Clutch, I agree that Battier alone isn't enough. I think it would have to include a 2008 1st rounder or Luther Head in the package.

    wow, so much information

Battier and No1. Draft Pick for Lewis
Battier and No1. Draft Pick for Wilcox
    Juwan Howard for Mike James
    Bob Sura for Sarunas Jasikevicius

Battier and No1 Pick for Lewis would be a great deal if it could work out, 11 Mil a year and a possible championship or two would be probably real easy to lurk him into a contract...

Battier and No Pick for Wilcox would be IMO really nothing, I don't see much of an upgrade here, Wilcox is only taller but does the same thing as Battier, also we would probably loose a good draft pick, I would not go for this

Juwan Howard for Mike James: man I would be pissed as hell, even tho Mike has a bigger chance of succeeding under the Adelman plan I do not want the guy here, he is a lost case and could explode anytime! It would make also sense trading him with Howard since they both can't stand each other.....we would also get rid of Howards contract...I would miss Howard, he makes this team stronger with his presence on or off the court

Bob Sura for Sarunas Jasikevicius would be a no brainer! Sarunas is very underrated, guy can play the PG position like any other PG, if he's with the right team he can do the right plays, I've seen it many times in Indiana

this means there is no place for JLIII, and there is a good chance of getting rid of Rafer! Rafer might fit into the Adelman sheme but with the possibility of Span playing some extra minutes I do not see a lot happening for Rafer

    But what quicker guards?

As reported, the Rockets will have traded a big chunk of their roster and receive Mike James, Rashard Lewis, and Saruna Jasikevisous in return.

Lewis is not a guard and James and Jasikevisious are not exactly quick at this point.

Yeah yeah, there is Snyder, but he's quick in the body and slow in the brain.

Any quick guards available for the MLE (assuming Les would spend it after taking on Lewis' salary)? Gerald Wallace would sign with the coach who chilled him on the bench for 4 years?

There are alot of writers who don't know CBA mechanics. ;)

Look at it this way. If Rashard takes his Player Option, he belongs to SEA...lock, stock and barrel. They can do what they want...trade him to the Knicks if they so desire.

If he doesn't take his POPt, he is unresticted and basically has no contract for 2007-08. You can't trade an unsigned player. It's really a simple thing to omit but that's how it works.

EDIT: A new nickname? I'll have to think on that. :)

You do know that that's still illegal defense, right?

I like Mo Pete, but he isn't a quick guard.

Mike James still has some quickness. I think he is a better defender than Alston. So that's a start! ;)

Vspan is also pretty darn quick and Adelman has already reached out to him saying he wants him part of the team.

Hey, the JVG to Adelman team transformation might not happen overnight. But getting Rashard and James on this team certainly would be a massive step in the right direction.

BTW, if we made those moves, I would think we would be looking for bigs with our MLE (since Juwan would have been traded). Guys like Mikki Moore, Joe Smith, Marc Jackson etc.

Do it NOW rockets.......and throw in any of our non-NBA players and weak draft picks.

Novak...Vspan...Lucas....Head....let them play where they belong.....on SEATTle'S NBDL Team.

I like Battier and if we had a legitimate PF he would be perfect for this team....but you have to be creative and willing to sacrifice in the NBA.

    DO IT NOW ROCKETS

Mikki Moore did a very decent job of keeping up with Jason Kidd after Krystic went out with a season ending injury. He's a very nice player. Taller than Hayes with some semblance of an offensive game.

What really intrigues me is that although not a true PF, Lewis at 6'10" creates havoc if you invert the offense and have him in the high-post passing to Yao in the low block. Or another cool wrinkle...Lewis in the high post, McGrady (or Wells) is the low block and Yao weakside facing the basket. That would be tough to defend.

If they are bringing in-- and paying for-- Jasikevicious. Doesn't this add competition to Spanoulis for the Euro PG minute quota?

Are we going to have the Lithuanian fans vs. Greek fans brawl on GARM every day? (Sarunas fans definitely defending him vigorous on the Pacers board).

Where does DaDakota fit into all this?

    Oh joy! Bring on Sarunas!

Anyhow... at this point, I'm still more excited about Steve Francis (hopefully a healthy one) than either Lewis or James... why?

Because a healthy Steve Francis can dripple penetrate and finish at the basket, and that's what sepearate Spurs offense from the Rockets... multiple dribble penetrators.. Double and triple penetration is key to the Rockets success.

What do you think about Darko, Gater? He could be a 6th man logging backup C minutes and PF minutes. I agree with Mikki... a taller Chuck Hayes.

wow, eff trading for lewis. battier for wilcox, then howard for james.

wilcox fits this team more than lewis. wilcox can rebound, score, offensive rebound, run, AND defend. and look at his size. he would have at least negated boozer's quickness or other PF's quickness. and HE'S YOUNG.

lewis i just dont think will be happy as the 3rd scorer taking 14-15 shots a game. he's too young for that to hop on a contender.

the trade howard for james will fix teh PG problem. let's be real, james > alston playing for the rockets. and trading howard will push hayes to more mins off the bench if we do get wilcox.

my goodness our two problems are solved

now we can then move snyder into battier's role.

the reason i think battier is not that much liked by adelman was that christie could create a lil bit off the dribble. we have seen how battier tried to dribble v. AK47 or jazz defenders => he got picked and got picked OFTEN.

but man, this is too good to be true. mike james is very realistic. but wilcox??? dude is very young. i thought they would be committed.

Use MLE or vet's min to sign Francis.
    PG: Francis/James/Sarunas
    SG: T-Mac/James/Head
    SF: Lewis/Wells
    PF: Hayes/Lewis
    C: Yao/Deke/Big Jake

If you are talking about quick point guards, I don't think we will have a shortage of those if Battier and Head are traded for Lewis. VSpan is here already. We've still got Rafer (who I expect we will be open to trading), JLIII, and whoever else we will bring in. We bring in Lewis and we will have PGs standing on their head to come play here. James and Francis would still be possibilities also.

I was suggesting Mo Pete and your swing replacement for Battier if you moved Battier in a trade for Lewis and we played Lewis at the 4. MoPete is long, a very, very good perimeter defender, much like Christie and a very, very good long range shooter.

ok, maybe i worded that wrong. sure lewis took 15-16 shots the last few yrs, but what about the number of TOUCHES.

yao takes 18 shots. u can't say he didn't get #1 option type of touches when he was on the floor.

what is a third option that of touches?

but thanks for that graphic. i still dont think lewis can help us that much. i prefer battier is a defensive player more b/c if we're not gonna get lewis to help yao man the paint and let yao guard weaker big man, who's gonna guard kobe? AI? bron? u want tmac to guard all of them?

or we know how kobe loves some snyder :D

I think I disagree with this. Lewis is a smart guy. He knows he's not really star-caliber. He's one of the dozens of players who can put up star-type numbers on a bad team, but lacks so much in his game that he's better used in a lesser role. He probably could get a bad team like the Grizz, the Celtics, or the Knicks to pay him more, but he'd never win in that kind of situation. I'm sure he'd love to come to Houston. It's that I don't understand the infatuation with him at the PF. He's a soft small forward. Putting him up against Boozer would have us all crying for Chuck Hayes again.
