This is true. T-mac couldn't get past Rashard's lenght. He can shut down his guy when he wants to. Marion is one of the other guys in the league that give T-mac trouble when they D-up on him.
Having Durant and Lewis on the same roster is every bit as illogical, if not moreso, than having Durant and T-Mac on the same roster, IMO.
this is just in consequential info . I live in Seattle. couple of years ago i was waiting in line in the cheesecake factory, when suddenly i felt really short ( i am 6,1) . i turned around it was Rashard behind me in line with a bunch of other guys. interestingly he was wearing an old school Rockets Drexler 22 jersey. this was right after we lost to Dallas. i wanted to tell him that the rox read looks better on him, than the seattle green. but i played cool and pretended i don't know him. BTW there was anotehr guy in his freinds, short and stocky, that had the blue barkley rox jersey on. they must have been his friends from the H-town since you don't see many rockets fans here. i remember thinking, man only if that jersey would stick on him, and not come of for good.
To get Rashard for Battier would be a dream come true for the Rockets. Shane is a good player but Rashard would give the Rockets a lot more than the intangilbes Shane brings.
Speaking of Drexler... he's showing up more and more in Rockets-decision related news nowadays... first telling Les about Adelman, now lobbying Rashard Lewis. I wonder if Drexler is going to be the Rockets' Steve Kerr and move from TV announcer to the front office.
Battier for Lewis, man thats just no brainer, I would commit that trade in a split of second, in case Sonics would change their minds. As much as I love Battier as a player, Rashard is just one of the elite scorer in the league, he got the body, the range, and a hometown boy! I would not get better than that! As JVG said before:" You just have to trade valuable player with valuable player (or something like that)." As for Wilcox, seemed that he went flat right after signed a big contract with the Sonics, the guy has some issues.
We should trade Shane for Lewis, rox is in need of a decent PF. Without Shane, T-Mac can play the 3#, Bonzi can play 2#, Snyder as a backup SG. Yao+Lewis+T-Mac+Bonzi+Rafer/V-Span, this is a real contender.
too bad it probably can't happen now that the cat is out of the bag and everyone will be calling seattle to tell them how crazy they would be to pull off this trade. Rockets brass are probably wondering who leaked it.
The thing is Lewis is in the drivers seat as a FA. If Seattle wants any kind of compensation they will have to appease Lewis. Houston makes sense for Lewis. Get it now?
you're assuming that Rashard will want to be traded and that he will only want to be traded to the Rockets. Get it?
i just really like how Morey has made so many potential moves. i havent seen a front office rockets staff that was working so hard at multiple scanarios. thanks Morey!!!
your idea of rashard as our "4" is terribly misguided. not contending with that lineup. maybe for a few minutes in a game, but he is SOFT and we need a ferocious 4, not a shooting 3 pretending to play 4. we need rebounding and shotblocking from the 4 spot. nothing less.
I'm with you Gater I just don't get all of this Shane Battier drool. If Shane Battier was so great the Rockets would have at least made it to the second round. When the Battier trade was made I said it was a bad idea unless he could get you close to winning a championship and I didn't think he was capable of doing that and I didn't think the Rockets were that close. I just don't think he's that special and I never have. Plus Shane can't create his own shot. If McGrady gets hurt he's practically useless on offense. If were blessed enough to get Rashard Lewis for Shane Battier and this years first round pic we should thank God.
I think Seattle is the logical source of this information since they want to induce a bidding war for Lewis. He's on his way out. There is no way they will resign him at the salary he's looking for and still keep Allen and Durant on that roster.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it it looks like the the Battier for Lewis rumors are pretty much just that. It's Not Going to Happen!
Awwww man! That's just ruined all the optimism I had. But hey one can still hope. It seems logical though cause if we had Rashard, Yao, and T-mac that would take up like 50 mil with the cap being at around 68 mil or so. But for the sonics perspective, it wouldn't be that bad of a deal considering he's a free agent and most likely wants out which was the reason for him opting out of his contract. So they for that they would get a guy like Battier who any team would love to have and possibly someone like howard who has an expiring contract. I think it expires after the 07-08 season, correct me if I'm wrong. Ps. WTH is Feigen on?!? Since when will Anderson Varejao command way more than the MLE. For a guy who is a taller version of Chuck Hayes, with the offensive liabilities.
Durant will be in Seattle. Lewis plans to opt out. The most profitable scenario involves a sign and trade it simply makes common sense. So yes I am assuming he wants to be traded. The article indicates the Rockets are interested. The questionable Drexler breakfast meetings for example. That is what this thread is about, Battier for Lewis...
