People need to get it through their head that Gay was NEVER gonna be a Rocket.

Had the Battier trade not happened, the Rockets would have picked Thabo Sefolosha.

So, so the real question is Sefolosha/Swift/James vs. the guys on the Rockets now.

Hands down this is a gift and a mistake on Wells part that allowed the Rockets to get a real SG for basically NOTHING. Yes, 2.1 million for Wells in NBA terms is nothing.

The Rockets are extremely lucky as of right now and sometimes it takes a bit of luck to go far.... you know what I mean.

And Wells rebounding ability off set the weak PF we have now. Battier is our starting PF and while he is great in many areas, he is not a rebounding machine. James would give better 3 point shooting but almost no rebounding help. Wells/Battier is a great SG/PF combo for the Rockets.

When you are playing hypotheticals on what people think the Rockets should have done, I don't see the rational in allowing the ifs to just FA acquisitions and trades that the Rockets probably could have done, but not allow the Rockets to draft anyone available at the 8th pick. Most people here think the Rockets should haven picked Gay eight if they were keeping the pick.

If you were just talking about one trade, the eight pick and Stro for Battier, I can see wanting to place more limits on Neverland. This poll would have been a little better if a few other realistic options were there.

Eddie Griffin had "high potential"...........we saw how that worked out..............Gay will be okay, but no superstar...if I am wrong a championship ring will soften that blow.

i could care less if Rudy Gay won the slam dunk contest, if we win the championship, it would be all worth it.

this Rudy Gay guy didnt seem tough enough anyways to be a Rocket.
I like Bonzi cause he's got a little Vernon / Mario Elie in him.
