I didn't really think about that. But you're right if Battier came back to us he would basically have to retire a Rocket whether we like it or not for Morey to have any credibility left for acquiring "assets" in the future.

Let me see, the guys has had a great career, why not just hire him for a assistant or trainer for the rockets. Makes sense to me. Guys got some knowledge.

As the Rockets sit right now, no, I dont want him.

But on a related note, i dont think Bud is going to turn the corner. That is, provide adequate defense and more consistency on offense. Twill is the x factor. If his skills can be utilized, and his attitude adjusted, he could be way better for us than Battier or Bud. But, history tells us the odds are against it (although far from impossible).

So, If Bud doesnt improve, Twill implodes, yes, maybe then Battier could help us.

I don't know if a lot of people remember but Budinger was atrocious the first half of the season and all of us had given up hope on him during that stretch except Adelman who kept giving him rotation minutes. Well, he responded in the latter half of the season and played very well. You shouldn't look at his overall stats and determine he is a bad shooter based on that. He had an abnormally horrible start to the year then his shot was pretty consistent the last half of the season.

He didn't respond much better after the deadline. He simply had a few more good games, most of them which came against poor defensive teams. If you take a look at his actual game log or remember how those games went, you can easily see he falls back into his ****ty shooting.

I don't see how having a person like Shane Battier (at a reasonable price, of course) on one's team could ever be a bad thing. All of our players could stand to learn a thing or two from Shane. Then, when he retires, bring him onboard the coaching staff. :)

We dont bring back sucky players at the end of their careers. They have to have been legends here or at least former allstars or greats. Battier fits into none of those categories.

Twill can easily be Iggy w/ the right amount of playing time, coaching, and attitude. No need to give up "assets" for a player that we already have on roster
