Hey batman wow that sucks. I have no idea why they won't operate you.. I'm shocked. I could come by on Saturday (maybe Friday evening), maybe try to get some answers from the doctors. Let me know in which hospital you are in, and in which room. Hang in there. Edit. Oh I just saw you are flying back tomorrow morning, I can't get away from work today or tomorrow morning, I am sorry. If you need my help with anything let me know.
This really sucks, Jason. I hope you get home safely without too much further trouble. Best of luck, man. -Brent
Wow, life's unexpected twists. I agree with others that it's better to have the surgery here . If anything, more creature comforts. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
Thank you, arno_ed. I think I'll be alright now. My girlfriend got a hotel by the airport. I'm going there in a few hours and then we'll fly out in the morning.
I'm in London now and I've almost been run over two times for looking in the wrong direction of traffic. Sux to need medical attention in a foreign country. I know. Got blood poisoning in Madrid one spring break a few moons ago. Good luck bro. Best wishes and see you on the other side.
So crazy to read through this all ... this unfortunately happened to too nice of a guy. Jason, I'm so very sorry to hear this happened to you. Anything we can do to help please let us know...
Get well soon! Wish you the best, hope all goes well in your flight back to the states. Sad to hear a wounded and fellow cfans member.
Wow, I am so sorry to hear this. What a terrible thing to have to deal with. HOWEVER, read this carefully. Use this time before your flight to schedule an appointment with an ortho surgeon for when you land. Do not go to the ER!!!! You will just end up sitting around for hours waiting and getting pot luck on the dr. Check with your insurance and find a doctor and get an appointment. The dr. will have an XRay machine in his office and can examine you there and then schedule you for surgery. What city are you planning on having the surgery done in? Sadly, I know too many ankle specialists here in Houston and would be glad to give you a recommendation. If you have trouble finding someone, let me know and I will try and help.
That really blows. I hope they would do it if the injuries were life threatening or something similar. Maybe I shouldn't jump to conclusions because maybe, just maybe, they have a good reason for not performing surgery.
The doctors finally came to see me for the first time today. They told me the nurses misunderstood and that they were willing to do the surgery but they couldn't fit me in until next Wednesday. That's after the nurse told me they were discharging me because I wouldn't pay in full in advance. I don't know who to believe, but I can't lie around here in pain for another six days so I need to fly home either way.
Gotta agree with this. If your insurance allows you to see an Orthopedist (sp?) without prior referrals, do it. Especially if you have one you can get into immediately. That's what I did when I broke my ankle a couple of years ago.
no way you should stay in a hospital for 6 days waiting to get your leg set (by which time they'd likely have to re-break it to set it properly. i'm not sure who mentioned it above, but come back to the states, and drive straight to your orthopedists' office. if you can reach you insurance company, get them to pre-approve the visit; do not go to the ER if you can avoid it. get the airline to put you up front so you can stretch your leg out. and travel safely- i recommend several pre-flight margaritas.
I don't think margaritas and blood thinners are a good mix. Good luck BJ, hope everything works out and I especially hope the SOB who did this gets what's coming to him.
margaritas go with everything. margaritas+ dramamine, excellent, add a sudafed, and won't nothing bother you on the flight.
I think what the docter said it true, that sound like something that could actually happen, the docters here are very busy, and usually you have to wait for some time for surgery if it is not an immediate thread on your life. Also rheir communication is not perfect (so i've noticed every time i went to a hospital). I doubt that the insurance story (the one the nurse told you) is true. It doesn't matter anyway. Good luck with you flight back, if you come back to the Netherlands let me know, I'll show you around, and make sure that you are not hit by a car . I'll show you the fun parts of the Netherlands.
wow Batman Jones, what a bummer. obviously you gotta get yourself fixed first, but what becomes of the production abroad? man, that sucks, get well. -thegary
