I agree with you about Katie Holmes. She isn't very good. But Batman Begins was superb in spite of her.

I liked batman begins it was good and i liked what they did, i.e. with the history and all, but I didnt freak out about it like most seem to have. Nor do I think it was/is the best one.

I agree, katie was horrible and the scarecrow just fell a little short.

I was also skeptical when I heard ledger was the new joker, but the preview has given me hope. He does seem like a good fit. Although, it will be hard to top jacks role...then again, they are just different styles of movies so it will be hard to judge/compare.

I am excited for this movie though

Except that Batman and other Hollywood creations are actually relevant -- unlike the Astros...

I wouldnt say that. Im usually just expecting a gool ol' popcorn flick with a superhero movie. But when Batman Begins got put on this pedestal, I just scratched my head in confusion why everyone was freaking out about it so much. I didnt hate the movie. Not in the least. Perhaps I will give it another spin before Dark Knight comes out.

I take my sports team a little too seriously as well...

I'm glad you detected the sarcasm, Max. I realized after I posted that I might upset some folks...

Batman Begins changed the way I think about Hollywood taking comic book heroes to the big screen. Brilliant...

I thought Batman Begins was good. I've seen it like a billion times on HBO and stuff. I liked the first hour especially. I agree that the Scarecrow was weak but Ra's was a good villain. It was nice that they set Batman up a bit before getting into the rogues gallery. I didn't really like the fact that Batman felt like Bruce Wayne in a costume instead of Bruce Wayne feeling like Batman in a costume. I guess it was a result of spending so much time with Bale pre-mask. In any case, I found it to be overly analytical and some of the action was pretty weak. Nevertheless, it's a fun movie that's highly rewatchable.

When I heard about Ledger, I immediately thought it could be pretty interesting. I realize he's most famous for pretty-boy roles in The Patriot and A Knight's Tale and stuff, but he's really rounded into an accomplished actor. The guy did Brokeback Mountain, so you know he's fearless. When that pic came out with his face mangled, it seemed certain he was again going all the way upriver with a role. It looks pretty cool. I've seen the trailer but I'm not going to watch the opening sequence... after reading a synopsis, I'd rather see it first in the theater.

I thought Batman was good. I have watched it a bunch. But after watching Order of the Phoenix again last night, Batman falls kind of short.

Even though they're quick, a couple of these scenes are really great bits of characterization that really show how well they have the Joker's personality down.

Film was shot in Chicago mainly. You can notice a few landmarks:

The last role Heath Ledger played was a gay cowboy on Brokeback Mountain. Amazing to go from a gay cowboy to this role.

Not quite. He's been in three movies between:
    IMDB

    # The Dark Knight (2008) (post-production) .... The Joker
    # I'm Not There (2007) .... Robbie Clark
    # Candy (2006) .... Dan
    # Casanova (2005) .... Casanova
... aka Femur (Philippines: English title)
    # Brokeback Mountain (2005) .... Ennis Del Mar

But Brokeback and Batman were his highest profile movies, for sure. He's a damn good actor IMO.

If he pulls off this role as well as it appears he is going to, I will certainly have to give Ledger his props.

because of Ledgers death, this movie might have enough power to shatter the Titanic records

I know I will definitely contribute to it

Now those are what would be classified as SPIOLERS (unlike discussion of an episode of LOST that already aired). I would humbly recommend you put some spoiler tags on those pics.
