Looks like it based on the theatrical grosses. And that anticipating it to be a pretty big hit on DVD (something that isn't guaranteed). Of course, I don't know how much of that loss is going to come out of Lengendary Pictures' investment and how much comes from Time Warner, but it's generally not good to lose that much money, whether it's your partner's money or your own.

It doesn't hurt that Superman Returns is the most expensive movie ever made, probably by a considerable margin. Part of that is writing off the salaries of Nicolas Cage and Tim Burton from their go-round with the Superman property in the mid-1990s. But even without that, it was a terribly expensive movie.

There's lots of other preproduction costs from previous nonstarts that make up basically 100 million dollars down the toilet before they even hired Bryan Singer.

Jon Favreau is directing and he keeps some updates at his myspace page. Apparently he's already looking to cast Terrence Howard as War Machine and the Manderin will be the villain, but modernized.

Don't really think we'll be seeing the suit in the daylight, much like the first one, like that so I don't think it'll be a big issue

Yeah they've been done....badly. I'd like to see a Batman that doesn't woefully miscast roles...Freeze as Arnie (wtf?!), Uma as Poison Ivy ( ) ....and Bane, let's not even get started on that. Two Face as played by Tommy Lee Jones, that was Oscar material there

Honestly Schumacher screwed up the franchise so much that those movies barely even exist any more...the studio had given the material time to rest and now I'm lookin forward to seeing how some of these characters SHOULD be portrayed.

And it's too bad they caved and recast Rachel Dawes...nothing against Maggie Gyllenhaal...just that too many people hated on Katie Holmes for no reason cause she did fine in the film.

wait, what? link? but who would they cave to if "everyone" didn't like her?

btw, i'm confused by your post. you say, "it's too bad they caved" but you thought she did fine. shouldn't you be saying "i'm glad they caved"?

I totally agree. Those schumacher film might as well be considered movie versions of the old Adam West series. So much stuff was done in a camp style and they totally destroyed some of the villians.

I'm not too keen on the new design for the suit or how skinny Christian Bale is looking this time around, but I trust Chris Nolan.

Well if I liked Katie Holmes in the movie then I wouldn't want Nolan to cave to the demands of all those who hated her for nothing more than being associated with Tom Cruise (look at her objectively and her performance wasn't anywhere close to where some people were putting it.) She's a decent actress.

    And not everyone hated her.

ah, i misunderstood. i thought you meant they dropped Gyllenhaul and put Holmes back into the role.

i didn't hate her b/c she is associated with TC, i hated her b/c i just didn't see her as an assistant attorney general. she still has the teenager look to me.

The new suit is really busy and segmented, but it seems to fit much better. In the first pic here you can see how the older one makes him look kind of fat and puffy.

the whole concept of a batsuit is very gay and S&M ish. They shoudl ditch it, he should wear a set of muay thai shorts with a bat symbol on the crotch.
