i've only rolled my ankle once. landed on top side of toe and rolled along the outside... wouldnt have mattered what shoe i was wearing i was going to mess up my ankle. people that roll their ankle a lot have weak ankle muscles usually because their feet are constantly hindered (bad shoes) or they have poor mechanics/movement in the joint. do you really think a piece of fabric an inch or 2 above your ankle (usually loose) is really going to keep your leg/foot from rolling? thats like saying a tshirt is going to keep my arm from being dislocated.
The most important thing when it comes to shoes you are less likely to roll your ankle in is actually the thickness of the mid sole. The lower to the ground your foot actually is, the less likely you will roll your ankle. I'm not saying that lows protect you better because they don't. If you land on someone's foot and roll your ankle, high tops obviously offer better bracing. But hightops don't necessarily mean you will roll your ankle less often. The midsole will help prevent rolling your ankle. Back on topic, I just ordered Nike Hyperfuses. Great reviews so far, and I tried some on. A bit weird at first, but I haven't put on a pair of hooping shoes in a long time. So its probably a matter of getting used to the new tech. I've always like Air Zoom tech. Lightweight seems to be the new thing as well. Hyper fuse incorporates both. Hyperdunks as well. From what I've read, the hyper fuse are more for guards, and hyperdunks are more for big men/small forwards
I found some low-top hyperdunks at my local academy and they feel good/responsive enough for a guard to me.
AdiZero Rose 1.5s Love them. Absolutely my favorite shoe since I used to rock the Gold Flightposites back in 00.
I tried on a pair of Adizeroes. Seemed really light, but the sole felt really odd. Perhaps my feet are too flat, but between the weird feeling coming from the sole, and places the shoe felt tight... I would have been crying after the first quarter.
Those are nice, how long have you had them? I've actually been looking for the 1.0s around my area but only found them in size 18s... Recently got a pair of the new AdiZero Rose 2.5s. Have to say they're one of the best pair of BBall shoes I've ever worn. Light weight, breaks in easy, very breathable, great ankle support, and plenty of traction. Also has the miCoach option for the shoe. Also if anyone knows of a place that has Kobe lVs or Vs (maybe the Kobe Vl) for a good price, in a size 10 around the Northwest to Southwest side of town(preferably NW)... let a follow CFer know.
The Nike air max uptempo basketball shoes look comfortable. But the price tag is a bit out of my range. http://m.finishline.com//controller...D00&Au=P_ProductID&A=38123&An=3000583+5102590
Check these shoes out. http://www.athleticpropulsionlabs.com/shop.html I've never heard of these before. They look promising.
these are old school.. i remember i got these back in 7th grade (the OG versions of course) and again like 8 years ago when i was in college. anyways, the retro version that i got werent as comfortable as i remember them being in 7th grade (maybe theyre not any bit different but thats how i felt). i didnt really feel comfortable at all playing basketball in them because even though they are pretty high, there is virtually no support for your ankles due to the fact that the sides of the shoes are really soft and not rigid at all. couple that with the fact that the base of the shoe is pretty narrow and your foot is pretty high off the ground (because of the cushioning) and i felt it was a rolled ankle waiting to happen.
Had a chance to wear my new Nike Kobe VI. Best, most comfortable basketball shoe that I have had in a long time. I was really hoping I could find a pair in all gray or in a navy fade, but settled for the Navy/white/gray colorway. A bit of slip that I will try to eliminate with a runner's loop, but otherwise there are near perfect. Really hurts to wear a Kobe shoe, especially in Cowboy colors, but these will be on my feet for a while. My daughter is now looking at the Kobe VII in black, yellow, white.
can't post pics so i'll just provide the link: http://www.shoecartel.com/compare/343151-003/Nike-Jordan-Jumpman-Elite-1-Team-Mens http://www.pickyourshoes.com/item.asp?itemname=6202
Picked these up last summer (I live in Chicago). I don't imagine I'll need to pick up some new ones for a while, the reason I was initially interested in these was due to the sole and tread on the bottom being similar to the TS Creators/Commanders. I have flat feet but the bottom of these shoes has these pads at specific spots that support my arches great.
I think I'm becoming a sneaker addict. Just copped some Kobe IVs the other day as well. One of my buddies runs with them and our PGs Lowry and Dragic are actually rocking them so I had to pick up a pair. I couldn't get my hands on the black and red ones that Lowry wears or the team red ones that Dragic has but I got a pair of the "Dark Knights" which happens to be the same shoes that this guy wears... the PG the Rockets tried trading... The blue and orange kinda goes the old school Rockets San Diego colors and the blue alone looks like the Hornets' blue which is ironic because Dragic was suppose to be a Hornet at the beginning of the season. :/
