On a sidenote my co-worker is having a 3 on 3 tournament that his church is hosting. 25 bucks a team. I'd say a roster of 4. Tourney day is the 23rd of July. Would be a good tune-up for some of us who want to get some competitive blood flowing early. Anyone interested?? Preferrebly someone over 30 and over so we can join that division hahaha j/k

The only place I can think of right off the top of my head is St. Theresa Church which is right behind the Sugar Factory. They have an indoor court open between 1-6 most days. Unless I take off a half day, it's hard for me to ever get over there since I work the ol' 9-5.

They have full-court pick up games running the whole time but the competition can get a little too young every once in a while. They aren't bad but they tend to be little punks, think they are all Iverson and never think you should get a foul call.

You're welcome to come to my house where I can set up my goal in the culdesac. My brother comes over at 7 most week nights to shoot around or play 1-on-1 in the driveway anyway. Helps us to not get rusty between Mondays and are trying to continuously try to get ourselves back into basketball shape. Its a 42' acrylic backboard goal, so it's decent. Anyway, let me know and I'll give you directions.

sounds cool. tomorrow? the only other place that i know of is a y on close to my place, but it's five bucks... cheaper than uh. not sure if y'all were up to that. they have the young'uns playing there most of the time and they run too damn much. :( "mr. pack a day" here can handle it until the second wind kicks in though. free works for me.

Is everyone still planning on practicing Monday?

    It's July 4th, so that's why I'm asking.

I may take my wife and son on a weekend trip somewhere since it's a three-day weekend for me. Need to know if I need to cut the trip shorter to make it back to play. :)

hmm, forgot it was 4th of july. UH is open from 12 to 8pm so if we do play, we'll have to start a bit earlier.

Unlike the last holiday (memorial day) I think July 4th is one I'll probably be spending with the girl and the family so I'm probably out for this Monday's practice. We could bump it to Tuesday or something.

None of you guys have a 24 hour fitness membership?? I mean they have basketball gyms there too. Hard for me to believe you diehard bballer's would pass up unlimited access to multiple indoor basketball courts for a mere 32 bucks a month.

That basketball access alone pays for itself.

mike, as silly as it may sound, i forgot about my family reunion commitments this today and this weekend. since y'all are having a trip, it would probably be better to start the extra basketball practice next week. like i say, pretty much every evening of the week, i am free.

got damn family reunion stuff. i probably only know like 10 of the 150 people that are going to be there.

i'm down for a tuesday bump. btw, what is the best 24 hr fitness to join in the htown area. i've been thinking about doing this.

Just get the all gym acces.s. You won't need the super-sport which is the old Q clubs but get at least the sport membership which gets you access to the ones with the basketball gyms.

Of course it also depends on where you live too. There is san felipe and voss, meyerland and mason rd which have courts. If you live up north there are 3 gyms close to one another that all have courts. Lucky bastards!!

    k. all gym access seems like the way to go, but after that is there a particular location that has more courts so that i can shoot around by myself if i need to?

i need extra practice for the hackers in the lane. need to practice driving and not settling for the up and under. so next time mogrod's bro goes for the hack, i can dunk on his arse. ;) :D edit: friendly trash talk.

Use this club finder to find one near you. You have to click on the club to find out if it has a basketball court. Primarily most of the gyms will have one full court with 2 main goals and 4 side goals. During normal hours you'll probably see one side running semi-full court and the other side relegated to just shooting around. When it gets really busy you'll see both sides running games.

That's cool. It looks like we are not actually going out of town like we had hoped.

Just email be at least a day in advance at twofacedesign@earthlink.net when you want to play and we will work it out.

what's the news on the t-shirts? are we getting them? if so, i think we should just write/paint our numbers on the back to save money and not have to use their "jerseys".

I found this site that sells uni's at a pretty decent price depending on how much everyone is willing to pay.

    http://www.eastsideteamsports.com/packages_basketball.htm

Or, we could all buy the same shorts/shirts somewhere and maybe iron on numbers and maybe names on them. Just a thought.

I'll stop in the Hobby Lobby right next to my office on the way home to see if they have any cheap iron-on numbering/lettering we could use.

I couldn't make it to Hobby Lobby, but I found this website that sells iron-on jersey numbers and letters.

    It could be cheaper alternative.
