Basketball league for white Americans targets Augusta

Yeah, it's basically what the NBA was when it started. Celtics, Knickerbockers, what do you think those names were meant to convey? Why do you think Globetrotters were founded? Lotta competitive white guys who know they're done after college; if they really, truly want to play ball, this would be an alternative. By the way, I didn't say tolerant white basketball fans would watch this, or that it would make NBA money, but if you go to the right part of the country and control your costs you could totally make this work. This has deep South and rural Midwest written all over it.

They'll probably try to set-up shop in the South and Midwest, but even there, this business is doomed to failure.

 

Times have changed, and most racist don't like Basketball. Hell, it took a black man to turn Golf into a must see event.

 

Racist white players not good enough to make it in the NBA or the NBDL is all I can think of. Huge talent pool there.

This is a silly publicity stunt by a bunch of dumb racists - probably doesn't even deserve the amount of attention we're giving it.

I am a fan of Broadway musicals but I feel that gays have ruined the spectacle with their exuberance and gaudy costumes. I am starting a troupe of all straight actors and performers. Only a straight man can understand the fundamentals of music and singing. I'm not a homophobe myself though. I'm just catering to those wealthy fans of musicals who are also antigay. There's a market there, particularly in the Bible Belt.

i guess you haven't spent much time there. most of the asian population might as well be white, and you won't see a (non-domestic) black or hispanic person unless you drive over the bay bridge.

NO offense, but I have to say you have no idea what you are talking about.

You don't need to go across the bay bridge to see a black or hispanic person. Have you heard of the Cow Palace and Mission neighborhood?

 

Asian population aside, 21% black or hispanic disqualifies San Fran from being very white.

Getting back to the Asians and the rest, most of the population of San Fran would be disqualified from this basketball league. All those blacks and hispanic are out; the 31% asian are out, no matter how white they "might as well be;" and a good third of the remaining population would be disqualified for not being American. They didn't mention it, but I'm sure the league wouldn't like homosexuals on their rosters either. And for what is left, as the Golden State Warriors have demonstrated, Bay Area ballers aren't very good at basketball anyway.
