Is'nt Denver cold? I thought it was.

Detroit at the forward position has basically only Ily. They also would need a forward back. A stretch four. So can't see any deal with them.

The only team that has 10 forwards to spare is Boston basically.

Yeah well actually unfortunately the little advanced stats we have show taht Terry is slightly better than Lawson was last year. In defence.
But is has many factors, like Denver last year being real bad. Don't expect much better than Terry's defence tho.

Terry never made any opposing PGs work on D. Lawson making them chase him around is a defense in itself.

We were a Spurs win over New Orleans away from being the 5th seed last season. I certainly think the Rockets have a great shot at repeating as Southwest Division champs, but let's not forget how close they came to not winning it last year.

They would have been in a 3-way tie for 2nd with the Spurs and Clippers, and tie-breakers would have put them in 6th.

Nobody is predicting that there will be a 3 way tie and the Rockets would be bumped down to 5th or 6th based on the rules.

When people predict the Rockets to be 5th, they are predicting that 4 other teams are going to have a better record than the Rockets.

So even if the Spurs would have beaten the Pelicans last season, the Rockets still had the 2nd best record in the Western Conference.

I really think everybody is overrating Oklahoma City. That isn't the same team that went to the finals. They've gotten considerably worse on the perimeter and defensively around the rim. I don't see the Warriors winning as many this year. I think the gap between them becomes more narrow and is filled by the Rockets and Spurs. I see Oklahoma City finishing where the pundits are projecting we will. Top tier are the Warriors, Spurs, and Rockets. Second tier are the Clippers, Grizzlies, and Thunder. Bottom will be the Jazz and Pelicans. The Kings will finish better than the Mavericks and Suns. I see the Mavericks being a bottom feeder. I think that, once it becomes clear the Mavericks aren't going anywhere, they tank.

I don't think that's correct. The Rockets finished with 56 wins. The Grizzlies had 55. We would've been 5th had the Spurs beaten the Pelicans.

The guy is saying 5th seed at best though. He honestly believes we cannot do better than that, which is ludicrous.

The problem with these typists who call themselves NBA experts is too many of them get stars in their eyes and are no better than biased fans.

You know, the Rockets might just finish 5th. They also might finish 1st. The difference between 1 and 6 in the West is sometimes an "eff it, let's go party tonight, it's only Orlando tomorrow, OOPS!" overlooking of an opponent.

Well that I completely disagree with. Of course the Rockets can finish higher than 5th. If they stay healthy, there's no reason they can't wind up 2nd again. Not sure about 1st unless the Warriors suffer a major dropoff.

Yeah well actually unfortunately we have this little thing called the ol' eyeball test, and anyone capable of fogging up a mirror under his nose knows that Terry was simply worn out in the playoffs. Dude is old. Even Terry won't agree with you that Terry with starter minutes at PG is better defensively than Lawson with starter minutes at PG. It was so bad even Nick Johnson was given some minutes in desperation.

making the opposing PGs actually work on defense and making them expend energy instead of just standing in the corners every possession down the court does will wear them out which will them less effective on offense, correct? JJ Barea, Austin Rivers, Stephen Curry had every game off on one side of the court and blew up on the Rockets in the playoffs over and over. Let's not get into trying to prove each other right or wrong and get down to the truth and not think of basketball in black and white, offense effects defense and vice and versa.

This was on Regular season stats not playoff stats.

Some believe that Lawson is capable of adequate defence. He has yet to prove it.

It is a factor but it's not all the story. Because your opponent also has a free road at offence in the backcourt of Harden + lawson with only one good perimeter defender.

You stagger their minutes according to game flow/satiation....Most coaches know this.

That's exactly what I though when I read the

    " Who's gone: Josh Smith
Who's new: Ty Lawson, Montrezl Harrell, Sam Dekker "

I understand not adding KPap and others to the "gone" part cause they were not big contributors but I think Marcus could be a big contributor of the bench making those open 3's.

North D- Darrell Arthur? JJ Hickson?

North 6- Scola would be my guess.
