Anyone have Richard Justice's email? I can't seem to find it anymore. Also, any email addresses for any sports writers welcome.
Blyleven is my cause for now. Raines is next. I'll be honest and say I haven't done any analysis on Trammell yet.
Good letter - yea, it's laughable that Blyleven hasn't made it into the Hall. Granted, he didn't win 300 games but he came pretty damn close. Also his career strikeouts and amassing around 60 shutouts should get him in, IMO. You are not ever going to find a starting pitcher today that will finish with 60 or more career shutouts (Roy Halladay comes to mind but he is about it). Also when you look at some of the other players who are in over him like Ted Lyons, Rick Ferrell, Bill Mazeroski, etc., you really are left wondering why he is not in there. I have always thought it was because he bounced around a lot and never played on any dominant teams (like the Big Red Machine of the '70s or the late '70 Yankee teams). I would dare say that Blyleven's career is similar or better than that of Don Sutton's except Sutton won over 300 games (but not by much). Another one that isn't quite as clear-cut but you hear discussion about it from time to time is Jack Morris. Is he a HOFer or not?? I lean to yes but I don't think he is as obvious as Blyleven is.
Blyleven should of been in years ago, as well as Roger Maris, Dale Murphy, Don Mattingly, and a number of closers. I can understand Pete Rose and Joe Jackson for punishment reasons. Blyleven's numbers are pretty similar to Sutton's, except Blyleven has more career strikeouts, complete games, and shutouts (and he played one less season than Sutton).
