1. Rockets are seeking a PG, not a 2/3 in place of Jon. 2. I would think a not-so-good defender, but better shooter still has a place on this team's BENCH.
We aren't currently a playoff team?? JVG was all praise and class for JB in that article. If it came down to playing Head or JB, I'm glad JVG went with Head. In the long-run, it will help. As for picking up a point...I was kind of blah about JLIII.
All right. Let me think this one through. We traded DA and got a point guard. But JVG says we need another point guard. Our shooting has been terrible. So we trade away our pure shooter. JVG thought that Jon wanted to play for a contender. Apparently Jon was not happy with this move. So JVG hosed us to help denver? Perhaps Jon is more injured than we know. Why hide it then, even after waiving him? Are we making some big move in the future? How? Trade deadline over - and I'd still rather see Bowen gone than JB.
This just makes me sad. When T-Mac came over we had to learn to love a whole new team. I love the hell out of T-Mac, but most of our ties to the past were cut. What were we down to? Like two players that were still in Houston since Yao was drafted? Barry and Sura were a couple of the key ingredients to me in getting all the way behind a brand new squad. I know they're done and can't be a help anymore, but it's just sad to see them go.
Didn't know that, bad month for the Barry boys. JB has got a personality so maybe he can catch on with a TV or radio station and do some broadcasting/analysis. Clyde seems to be a temp, I would love to see JB replace him.
I don't get that impression at all! They told him they are going to waive him. JVG: "Jon, we are going to waive you, look, you can still play at Denver, they called." JB: "Denver? I don't know about that. I may as well retire."
Consider the timing. This happens AFTER the Rockets lose another game to Phoenix in a, relatively, non-competitive second half. Being realistic, this team, as it stands, has little chance to advance even if they make the playoffs. There aren't many personnel moves left for the team to make... JVG is searching for ??
Face it- all we have is Mac and Yao. Basically. Don't get too tied to any players besides them, because EVERYONE is expendable. Including JVG, if after the season the Rockets decide to go in another direction. But, you know, maybe it's good to change the philosophy. No more veteran players, with the exception of a few (Deke, Wesley, Howard). I would keep those 3 because they still have value, but everyone else needs to be younger and able to grow with our 2-headed monster. Yao McGrady Alston Bogans Head Swift Wesley Howard Deke We have to be careful not to keep changing, though- at some point, we have to stick with certain players through thick and thin- there has to be some continuity, or we're going to turn into the Warriors.
I am really going to miss JB. He was so much fun to watch and listen to on the radio. My two favorite Barry moments- Last year the behind the back pass on the break he made in the Miami game at the TC and who can forget the tumble he took when he was on the bench when McGrady slammed one over Bradley in the playoffs.
How is Barry going to "help a contender" if he's hurt? I loved Barry while he was here, but he hasn't played all year and he's evidently more hurt than anyone here knows, so just how much of a difference will he make on another team? I'm a little perplexed by this move, but some of you are acting like the season is LOST now. Barry hasn't helped us at all this year, so it's not like we're going to suffer a major drop-off now.
well someone mentioned Brent Barry was waived so maybe we are going after him? he can handle, shoot and distribute pretty well. TThomas was also waived I would move one of NBDL guys to get both of them. J
why would people rate this thread low? it's just the thread relaying the information that barry was waived; THIS THREAD WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BARRY BEING WAIVED. ahhh i feel a little better.
