That's right, blame it on JVG. There's a whole team of folks helping to make these decisions. Apparently he's not worth much to anyone else either since apparently he could not be traded...for anything.
this thread is about to blow up this really is shocking news unless barry had an undisclosed injury, i believe hippa regs would keep that under wraps.
Damm....this SUCKS!!! Jon B became one of my favorite Rockets last season and was hoping for him to finish his career on a high note with H-town. PLEASE do NOT let this be true!!!
Barry was one of my favorite players, this sucks, but The guy hasn't been playing, there must be a reason, its not like its a big loss, he hasn't even been playing. I'm not so sure why everyone is so shocked? But it does suck.
When he did play this year, he shot horribly, and he wasn't playing - for whatever reason - anyways. Might as well waive him. It opens up a spot, either for a different teams waived player, or for a young guy current in the NBDL.
Kind of ironic that a player who put off retirement could meet this end with the Rockets. Take a look at the guys who sacrificed themselves to play for the Rockets for example DA signing for less with Houston. Well they are gone now and the rest of the roster is trembling with fear at JVG/CDs next move.
Well, one has to think JVG is one of the key decision maker here. Him not playing JB and such. A bit sensitive there, don't you? JB has no trade value is not relevant. I'm curious why they cut him at this point of the season.
I like John Barry in many ways. It's ironic and sad that he had the best game of his career in the Rockets season opener and then got booted with less than a third of the season left. But this thread is becoming funny, people seem to forget NBA is all about business and bottom line.
Rather shocking ... I'd wondered why he wasn't playing. I'd bet this was done as a favor to him, so he could catch on somewhere else, since he wasn't getting playing time, and JVG had always promised him he was going to.
semi-off topic - but what's the current CBA rule (didn't rhere used to be one?) about making trades AFTER the deadline? Can you still do it w/conditions or no?
