If Jones can knock down the open jumper,3 ball, shoot at least 42% from the field and doesn't get trigger happy then I would like to have him here.

Fisher only had 1 year left at 3M.

I don't buy the "there's a reason he has bounced around the league" excuse. How many players HAVE bounced around the league before finding a home and flourishing? Troy Hudson? Final MVP Chauncey Billups? Mario Elie? Avery Johnson?

Besides, why are people panicking, Barry is the only guy off the market. There are still a number of other PGs to choose from. We don't need a great point guard, just a solid PG.

You might be joking, but I have a gut feeling that this is a real possibility.

Id be ok with Ward/Lue tandem at point, as long as we manage to get ahold of a super solid option at PF.

Even great teams have a weak link. Maybe ours will just be the PG spot. :)

PS - I have no problem with CD not getting into a bidding war over some of these guys. Its a sellers market. This team, with Yao and TMac being so young, would be better served to wait till there is a buyer's market and then make their move. Its not like we are favorites or need to win a title next year.

I don't believe we offered the 4th year. I think we decided that since we're offering the opportunity to play with Yao and McGrady, we should be able to get a solid PG at a reasonable price, and any PG who doesn't see it that way can move on.

Good. No swoons, no bad contracts. Evidently SA wanted Barry worse than we did. Fine. That's the way the market works.

Didn't the Rockets try to get Antonio Daniels before pursuing Pike? I'd love to have Daniels, like blazer_ben said, the break would be crazy, and Daniels is an intense defender.

So if no Barry then who? I remember JVG saying that he wanted a point guard that would hit the three point shot. It was interesting that he said that before he mentioned defense. I don't know, but D. Fish seems to want a fresh start and I do mean "Start"

I am highly skeptical of getting fisher at any cost. I mean this guy is probably expecting a pay raise because of his miracle shot. You have to question his ability to play outside of the triangle offense. Always be warry of players that played in a systematic offense. Look at his stats this season, they are absolutely horrible. Last year the lakers pretty muched abandoned the triangle offense, due to the additions of malone and payton, and fishers performance last year could be a preview of his effectiveness outside the triangle.

The Lakers did not run the triangle from 1996-1999. Fisher performed just fine his first 3 years in the league. He did enough to beat out Nick Van Exel for the starting job half way through the 1997-1998 season.

Well, good luck on that happening. D. Jones has never averaged over 40% in fgp for an entire single season his entire career. 3pt wise, he's not far off from D. Fisher, but it all depends when he makes them and when he doesn't.

But, I'm not sure about wanting to use all the MLE on Fish just for being a tadbit better than Jones and having experience winning and making clutch shots. But, I also don't want to settle for D. Jones. Seems we're stuck in a bind. :(
