id put my money on arenas re-signing. he's said he'd take less money if it helps grunfeld put a better team together. as for the clippers; they do have a decent team, but nothing special. and how will davis fair in half court sets all season?
If Arenas doesn't pan out, this means the Warriors can go after anybody now right? What if they go after Landry?
shouldn't they target PG's? well to play along, if they go after landry so what? teams can only offer the MLE and the rockets can match any offer. most of the fans here would jump at a S&T possibility if the rockets could land pietrus for landry.
A newer story on ESPN has Baron saying he wants to stay a Warrior. I'm confused. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3468448
Looks like he verbally accepted the offer for the Clips but I guess since he hasn't signed officially and can't until July 9th it means he can go back on his word?!?!...
Thank God. I hated playing GS. This brings an end to a run and gun team the rockets could not hang out.
Done Deal? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3470016 Tuesday, July 1, 2008 Davis verbally agrees to go to Clippers, leave Warriors ESPN.com news services Baron Davis shocked the Warriors by opting out of his contract on Monday. Imagine their surprise now. NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the guard reached a verbal agreement with the Clippers on Tuesday night and will sign a new multiyear contract with Los Angeles after the leaguewide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted July 9. Davis was in line to make $17.8 million in the last year of his deal with the Warriors, but after telling the team that he wanted to stay, opted out at the last minute. Sources told ESPN.com that Davis, 29, will receive a five-year deal worth an estimated $65 million. Forward Elton Brand also opted out of his contract with the Clippers on Monday, and speculation quickly began that the team would try to keep Brand and sign Davis. This scenario is only possible if the Clippers renounce the rights of Corey Maggette and Brand takes a slight pay cut. Sources say the Clippers are expected to do just that and quickly reach a verbal agreement to bring back Brand. Maggette opted out of his deal on Monday as well. Davis averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds last season for a Warriors team that won 48 games but did not make the playoffs. Senior writer Marc Stein covers the NBA for ESPN.com.
Was it much of a shock when he was benched the last half of the season? It will be fun seeing the Nuggets miss the post-season. I would love getting Camby as much as Nuggs4 wants to rid himself of him. I remember being like 12 rooting for UMass undefeated in a Chilli's bar. That's like saying I hope the Hamburgler gets his prize in a McDonald's ball pitt, but still... Who thought they'd be cheering for Dikembe Mutombo?
