Why do people still care what Barkley says? Seriously, does a thread need to be made anytime he mentions/does not mention the Rockets? Like it or not, The Rockets have yet to prove CB34 wrong. Only YAO can get those bragging rights.

Barkely is just an example of what bitter old people do when they see other people doing what they used to do better, but i would have him playing pg over alston, matter of fat, my great grandma on a wheelchair could do a better job than rafer, just had to throw that in

To say that Rockets aren't contenders while everyone else says they are is totaly moronic.
I'm sorry Barkley,I have respect for you.

I MEAN I DID WHILE YOU WERE PLAYING IN HOUSTON.

Denver has a pretty solid lineup guys.

Melo, iverson, camby, nene, smith, k-mart...to name the big ones. ppl are picking them to do some big things.

but yeh, for chuck not to give us any love when denver hasn't done squat either is a little hurtful :(

the jazz, i dunno, they lost fisher but brewer looks real good. spurs/dallas/phx above us is pretty obvious.

    but we can do it!

Who on this team has done something Barkley hasn't? At least Barkley's Rocket team(s) got out of the first round.

    ima_drummer,
you are arguing with people who never saw that 1997 team play. you are arguing with people who don't know about the championships and dream.

Even if Barkley had been a crappy player, he isn't saying things that aren't true. It seems like this year he's kind of said he isn't sure about the Rockets. In the past he's said we just weren't good enough and we weren't. He said T-mac was too soft, shot too many jumpshots, made horrible shot selections, etc. and he was right.

    He was wrong about Yao.

Barkley was right about the spurs winning the championship, the rockets losing to the jazz in the first round, and the jazz being possibly the 2nd best team in the west. His criticism was right on also on why the rockets are not contenders right now because we don't have an identity. Much of that is because the players have not totally familarized themselves with the new system. We have Yao right now shooting 18 foot jumpers when he clearly looks more comfortable staying in the post. The offense looks the same as last year a lot of the time with everyone standing around as mac does something even though this is suppose to be a motion offense. Hayes and rafer are still starting despite their inadequacies on offense because Scola and James have not proven themselves yet. We have A LOT of kinks that need to be worked out and after the game last night I believe Barkley is right about us at this point.

I think it is more because of his job description. He is there to produce controversial comments.
