Tis sad that it always has to be feast or famine with this crowd. The point that we do have two of the best and unselfish superstars who care only about making each other and their teammates better and winning games is lost on them. I don't understand this mindset of bashing one at the expense of the other. It is getting really depressing to see this vicious infighting night in and night out. Esp since we are winning. I am going to avoid the BBS like the plague after a loss b/c I shudder to think just how bad it will be after a loss.
We've already shown we can. However, you should keep in mind that we've had a lot of roster turnover this offseason and the players who were here last year didn't play much together due to injuries. We have TMac, who barely stepped on a court all offseason, still working his way into mid-season form. Even with all that, we've managed some impressive wins and impressive stretches against the league's top teams. It's all good and only getting better. Hayes will be back, Howard will sit, Novak and Spanoulis will earn time. Who knows? Maybe Bonzi will come around. Wow. Most predicted we'd get off to a slow start given a tough schedule. We're 6-3 so far with nothing but sub-500 teams the rest of the month.
What passion? passion of being the scoring champ again? that team did not even reach the playoff. If you watched the game of rox against spur, it was actually those missed jumpshots at the beggining of the 4th quarter caused the total collapse. When he took those careless shots, most of the rocket players have not even establish themsleves under the basket, it resulted to the fast break and easy points for the spurs. T-mac has to elevate himself to the level of a playmaker rather than just being a scoring champ.
Back on topic... If I've learned anything in my 35 years on this planet, it's that the NBA analysis on TNT is worse than worthless. Yes, I'd pay hard-earned money for them NOT to analyze any more games. Kenny said that the comparison between Kobe losing a step and T-Mac losing a step isn't valid because Kobe is coming off a surgery. What? Didn't we have to listen ALL OFFSEASON to all the pundits discounting the Rockets because of Yao and TMacs health issues? Now his back isn't an issue? And Barkley - "between 27 and 32 you're bulletproof". Brilliant, we just saw last year that isn't the case for TMac. The studio concludes that the Rockets can't win unless McGrady dominates. If he's not the leading scorer the team won't win. Then you have the commentators agree with the studio, only to have it couched as "McGrady is dominating the floor" as they build the 19 point lead. All of the sudden, he doesn't have to be the leading scorer if he creates for others. What? After McGrady was just ripped in studio for saying that he's a playmaker. They can't even be consistent with their own analysis. Anyway, those were the pearls that stood out to me.
they are never consistant, thats why they on television barkley is just there to entertain people his english vocabulary is even shorter then mine.... sometimes I wonder how he got his job...if I can call that a job.... but, I do agree, your best years should be 25 to maybe 33-34... I don't know about bulletproof, but in that age your are a very healthy grown man, and by then you should have some things clicking in your head to make great things happen
The difference was that Barkley, Miller and Smith didnt come into the NBA as 17-18 year olds. Tmac has been in the league 10 years now. By the time that Barkley and the others were 10 year vets they were 32 and losing their skills. Yes tmac is only 27 but he has a lot more miles on his body at that age then the others did. As for Yao, I am so tired of everyone saying he needs to dominate cuz he is 7'5. People need to realize being 7'5 helps Yao as much as it hurts him. Yes it makes him taller then everyone but it is much harder to move quickly at that size. Name one guy that size that has even come close to Yao. With Barkley's logic, shouldnt Bradley, Smits Muresan, Bol, and Eaton been dominant players. Lastly, Barkley and Miller are great players but before they criticize Yao and Tmac for not bring any championships to Houston, they should look at their fingers and count how many rings they are wearing.
Agree with you also about the 25 to 32 years is your best years. I think T-Mac is selling himself a little short. I personally feel that if T-Mac stays healthy, he will have the best overall season of his career and the rockets will thrive. Once he finds his groove, the athletic swagger from the T-Mac of old will come back. At the age of 27 even with back problems in the past T-Mac still has his athletic ability, plus he is a whole lot smarter. That equates into one dangerous player. The rockets aquiring Battier should prolong his career as well.
Is this Sarcasm Cause it is funny it is only 2 games. . . .and they tired. . GAME 9 of 82?? If they tired now. . . what can I expect at Game 50 or 82? Rocket River not worrried but that struck me as ironic
Marathon, this is one the reason why Tmac has to be #1 option. I'm looking at the big picture. In the playoffs defenses are going to be physical and their will be lots of fronting. Yao is less effective when this happen.
As great as Tracy in 2004-05, we still didn't get out of the first round, remember? Why the hell you think this is a good scheme? You think Tracy will play better this season than 04-05? Do you think we might have a better chance to go deeper into playoff this season?
Like so many people mentioned before, as great as Tmac was in 01-05, he never made his team out of first round. As great as he was, his team still had a 16 straight lost. Tracy is a geat player, however being #1 option is different. We are doing good with Yao being the first option this season and I don't see any reason, any reason at all not to keep this trend up! Go rockets!
Jealous of what? The only way Yao is going to shut up these people is by dominating when the spotlight is on him. We all know he's going to have off games, but just don't have them when it is a statement game. Yao has to bring his best against the best teams and the best players. That's the only way he's going to stake his claim as being the best center. All this stuff about it being racial is baloney. If Yao would dominate like we have seen him dominate we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Yao has to be the #1 option... he has to play dominant to be dominant...if you know what I mean... the difference between Tmac and Yao are...Tmac can turn on that switch and be dominant...Yao has a way harder time doing that... everyday... Yao has to prove himself to the rest of the NBA... and even some people on this board... that he can play in this league... i figure thats one of the reasons he gets so little respect from players and the Ref's also JVG can be smarter... when Tmac is on like he was... and the team was running the ball like crazy... he should have pulled out Yao... to get a faster player in at center... Tmac needs to learn to play like MJ in taking over a game when he had too... Tmac dosent need to prove anything to anyone...he won two scoring titles... to prove that...now he needs to prove he can lead a team to a championship... a Tmac taking 25 shots a game... would wear him out... by the time we get to the playoffs... we wil probably get swept... because we wore him down before he even got to play...
and people love it. I don't get it, only when they say something ridiculous about the rockets to people realize how bad it is. last night was so over the top bad its not funny. As much as I would like to criticize mcgrady that was just silly. it just goes to show you how uninformed they are, they just get on there shooting from the hip. barkley advising how to be a champion is my favorite. its classic, mr. "we're in the butt kicking business and business is good".
So the Mavs and Heats games weren't statement games for us? Seriously, we need both T-Mac and Yao to be on top of their game for us to win a championship. You dudes are r****ds.
