He has never said anything bad about the city, only the organization.
where are you coming up with all this stuff? you realize some of us went to games in this era right?

He has always said nice things about Hakeem. Barkley was better than Dream at that point in the post, Dream was advancing in age and had some bad injuries. Barkley was determined that year.

Barkley quit on the team because he signed a contract for $4 million less than what he was promised?

He should have just gone to another team then. Oh...that's right...nobody would pay him that. And, the $8 million was generous.

Unfortunately, yes. I wish the Rockets would have acquired the young Jermaine O'Neal instead of Cato, for Pippen, after he demanded to leave Houston. Portland already had Grant and Rasheed at the 4 spot. Shortsightedness on the Rockets part, led to a lot of problems for many years.

I'm born and raised in Houston, spent most of the first 35 years of my life there, don't question me with your "you realize some of us went to games in this era, right?" comment. I'm not one of the LOFs for you to pick on, I was at some of those games too.

That was my perception of Barkley, I was excited to get him like everyone else back then and they fell short in those years. I don't blame him more than anyone else, but in hindsight, I do wish we had never traded for him based on how he's acted since he retired.

This thread is about why he's acting that way.
I'm not picking on you. You are not the idiot posting Pippen highlights.

What he did on the court and what he does off the court 20 years later relate to each other.

    Look at Steve Francis.

I don't understand why anyone would want to back Les Alexander up. I wouldn't even back Barkley up. Juan Valdez said it best in an earlier post. Barkley Les and Pippen all deserve each other. Barkley was a bum and was fat except for his first season as a Rocket. He discovered food in TX was way better than anything Arizona could ever offer. Les is cheap. We all know that. But at least he's better than Dolan or the owner of Thunder. Pippen is a bum and we saw it in Portland when he was riding the tails of younger stars. The fiasco blew up on our faces more than it did theirs. The fans suffer the most when douchebag divas think they deserve something rather than earned. If Barkley was really serious about winning he would have been a gym rat even at his "old age". Tim duncan and malone showed us that.

To be fair, Tinman, Barkley did talk down on the water (Galveston).

It's been a while since he's said anything though.

If true, Les should've paid him his money. I'd be upset too.

Barkley can say what he wants, I just wish he'd get checked more on his opinions. Rockets success is the main thing, and that would automatically make him look worse.

He said it sucked, not just comparatively.

He could've added "awesome port city" or "now doing cruises" !!

People forget about the celebrations that erupted in Houston each of the times the Supersonics lost in the first round. People claim we were lucky cuz Jordan was temporarily out - all the evidence points otherwise. Where was the real luck those two years? The Sonics choking. I still like to believe the Rockets would have climbed that mountain back then anyway (they were very close in 1993), but no doubt in my mind that would have been the most difficult mountain given how the Rockets matched up with those Sonics.

If the Rockets presented an offer lower than their verbal offer a year earlier the simplest most logical response is to go play elsewhere.

Oh wait... no other team would offer more than 8 right? Barkley only has himself to blame for not being valuable enough to create a market that would give him leverage for a fair deal. You don't see Lebron taking the minimum so the Cavs can go trade for Melo do you?

You play for what your market value is Chuck. Stop your freaking b****ing. The Rockets and Les Alexander are a business. They will be fair and take care of their veterans that retire as we see every damn night when someone is honored and gloats about their relationship with the city and Les. I think there is enough evidence in history to show that Chuck is just being a whiny little you know what.
