Barkley: Camby Should Be Starting All-Star Center Over Yao

LOL, the line is, "I was elected to lead, not to read!!"

Why are yall hating on Camby? He's a great player. Relentless on the glass, had multiple 20+ rebounding games and one of the best shot blockers in the game. Stop with all this, "Oh, most of his blocks are from the weak side" talk. That is just pure hate. A block is a block. Guess what? Most blocks that you get are from the weak side. Remember, Barkley said all this better than Yao stuff and not Camby. Camby is not better than Yao and doesn't deserve to start over him, but he is no Erica Dampier. Better than the Caveman also. Camby is no slouch.

Well, they do have a better record than us. We have no room to talk about teams not making the playoffs when we are on the outside looking in.

people dont respect yao because hes not your typical big man, and he doesn't do one thing particularly well.

when people talk about great big men they talk about what they're good at: rebounding, blocking, shooting, their athleticism etc...

people say Tim Duncan is the big fundamental because he's so solid offensively, and hes also a great rebounder and changes the game defensively. people say Bynum has great hands and is extremely athletic. people say Oden is incredibly fast and is a great shot blocker. people said Hakeem had the footwork of a guard and infinite moves on the post. and lastly, people say Yao is.....tall, and he can shoot. thats why he's so underlooked. he doesnt do one thing particularly well or one thing that jumps out at you.

 

Didn't the Rockets beat the Suns twice in the playoffs and is the main reason why Barkley retired a non-champion? Our loss to Dallas was several years ago, but yet some folks still dislike them. And you're talking a team that whipped your teams' sorry butts twice in the playoffs when you were the captain of your team too? I believe he's still hanging on to that grudge. That short stint with the Rockets was only a "if you can't beat them, be them" something like that. Too bad for him, he couldn't be a champion that way either.

 

2 1/2 game difference? We still have 40 games to play, we will see. Denver played 23 games at home, but only 18 games at road, their road record 7-11.
I did not see how much better than us even without T-mac for a lot fo games

 

I don't know if drawing double teams more than anybody else in NBA is doing something particularly well.

Rockets are #2 in defensive efficiency which is points given up per 100 possessions. There is no better measurement of team defense. Denver is #6, which is surprising to some because they neglect to notice that they play the fastest pace in the league. To those that are positive that we play worse defense than last year... you are right in a way.

We are worse in the absolute points given up per possession, but our ranking is actually better, indicating a decrease in overall league defense. People should really look at rankings like this so they don't throw out unfounded opinions about teams they don't watch.

 

You just lost all credibility by calling Oden and Bynum "great" big men. :/

 

plus, Yao almost always gets double teamed....
