But when Sam Cassell got traded away, he proved to the Rockets and the rest of the world that he was deserving of being a starter!

 

If it were a fact, it wouldnt be debatable. But since people are debating it, its clearly not a fact.

 

Who's actually debating it? I can make a number of very obvious statements that would be debatable. But, it doesn't make the statements reasonable.
For instance, I can say Michael Redd is better than Dwyane Wade. Is it true? Well, according to most, no. Can someone make a case for Redd? I guess.
Just because a statement has room for debate doesn't make it a reasonable statement.

 

I honestly do think that wade is overrated. although i recognize his skill, his preferential treatment from the refs (especially during the 06 finals) will affect a lot of people's perception of his true ability.

the point in the earlier post was to show that theres a difference between a fact an opinion.

and no one is debating the idea that yao is better than camby. we all know he is. but there are teams out there where camby would flourish and yao wouldnt.

some posters were saying that no team would take camby over yao.

 

In the world of sports, there are no facts other than statistical facts. Anything else is subjective or at least has a subjective aspect. A statement like "Yao is better than Camby" is about as "factual" as you can get in the NBA, without going totally senseless like comparing Kobe to Dorrell Wright.

 

Such teams as? even playing with GSW or the PHX suns. Yao would still be better than Camby.

 

Phoenix can't use Yao? Seriously, deep inside they know a run-and-gun team is hard to go all the way in the playoff. Even Yao can play only 30 min in this fast moving team, move Amare to PF where he should be, have Nash dishing out to Yao and Amare, add some punches from Barbosa. They will finish off Spurs without any doubt.

It's not hard to believe some people prefer Camby over Yao if they look at stats. Defensively stat wise camby seems better while if you want offense Yao is better. Camby isnt the focus on offense since they got so many other weapons.

 

The question is, if a team had to replace its current starting center (or players who play pf/c like duncan), would it rather replace it with yao or camby?

I dont think every team would pick yao.

 

Barkley is just playing stupid on TV, that is all. I guess sometimes TV stations benefit from being controversial. Yeah yeah he is shooting off... but who doesn't once in a while?

I don't have to go look at stats becasue I already know that Yao is better than Camby. But everyone else doesn't have to think the same think.

 

Charles simply Charles with half brain and half jack ass! Camby over Yao! Statistics will show that Yao will produce better on the court on any day , any occassion any time!
