Golden State - Plays a fast, open-court game. Yao would slow them down and disrupt their flow.

Phoenix - Same as Golden State; and Stoudemire works perfectly in their system.

Denver - Denver also plays a fast game, but not as fast as the above two. For yao to be effective, the ball needs to go to him in the post. denver isnt built to support that kind of offense. it can, but if it does, it isnt fully utilizing the skills of its personnel.

Boston - Kevin Garnett acts as their starting center.

Detroit - They have never needed a dominant offensive center. They are so offensively balanced that they thrived with a defensive center. They won a championship with wallace at the center spot. in my opinion, camby is comparable to big ben.

    Dallas - See Detroit.

Toronto and Utah already have young, all-star power forwards. Each of their primes will probably outlast yao's by a few years. Yao's presence would interfere in their development. Its kind of like how Michael Redd didnt become a star until Ray Allen left.

Keep in mind that my opinions deal only with winning and game play. If you want to look at it financially, every team would want yao. he's a cash cow.

You are certainly intitled to your opinion as all of us are...

But many of these teams you mentioned could just as easily use Yao.

With a guy like him sometimes you have to change "the plan". He is just too special

I see what you're trying to say, but no team in the NBA would take Camby over Yao....this reminds me a couple years back when people were trying to make the argument that Ben Wallace was better than Yao for certain NBA teams.....a 7'6 guy with that much talent is too special to pass up just because he doesn't run the floor...........

Actually, these teams i mentioned could not "just as easily" use yao without disrupting their entire game plan. The only exception might be boston, but the transition from garnett to yao would be a downgrade.

To dismiss my arguments because yao is "too special" shows your lack of understanding of the game.

Um, I'm pretty sure Boston would love to have Yao.

the old adage is that you play offense with the players you got

all you did was list a bunch of up-tempo teams. you're like this team doesn't play like houston, that team doesn't play like houston... nope they cant use yao. not a lot of teams play like houston because there ARE NO PIECES in the NBA comparable to yao, except d howard emerging this year. let me guess, you aren't an accountant, because you're taking a prime asset and moving it over to the deficit column

do you really think detroit prefers to not have "a dominant offensive center?" that detroit or any team went out there thinking "we have too much offense.. let's purposefully get someone for the 5 with half the output and get a defense-only center... it works well in football."

OR do you think they made do with what they had, and compensated for wallace only being a presence on the defensive end?

yao anchors the D better than any team in the West... you're on ****ing crack if you think Detroit wouldn't love to have Yao in the middle clogging up the lane on D and drawing doubles in the paint and opening up jumpers for billups, richard hamilton and crew.

it's r****ded to work with a universal negative and think, well if a team doesn't play like it has a 7'6" center (when it DOES NOT) it cant use yao. the question is, is the team better with yao than with camby or whoever. for everyone on that list save boston the answer is yes

step away from the crack pipe guy

Clearly you dont see what I'm trying to say. If a team were rebuilding, then yes, they would pick yao. But if a team is already established as a contender, adding yao to the mix would mess up their chemistry. However, everyone loves defensive specialists.

How successful do you think we'd be against Golden state? or phoenix? I think in those games, Adelman would be forced to sit yao out a lot due to fatigue.

Failure to run the floor is a GLARING WEAKNESS. If we dont run the floor, we might as well prepare for the lottery.

Okay, Wekko, you're right. Yao is the 30th best center in the league.

he likes Yi... because Yi may be good..and may even be star player in the NBA...

but he will never be considered the best player in his position...

so in the future he can say Yi is a good player... and he has always liked him... but this black man is better or this black man is better...

Yao may be a big sitff and... with all his faults... he still is the best player in his position...

so for you TMOF's defending Barkleys pick.... I can understand why... you guys still compare Mclady to Kobe

and hope once again...for his glory days.... when he won the scoring titles....

when he averaged 28 and 32 points per game.... on ONLY 23 and 25 shots per game

how could that Orlando team have been so bad...it was his teammates for sure..... Mclady only missed 55 out of every 100 shots he took

Most of your 'rationale' proves nothing.

Would Toronto and Utah be better immediately? Absolutely, and their all-star power forwards would look even better and continue to develop regardless.

Detroit and Dallas 'never needed a dominant center', does not mean they wouldn't be better with one.

Boston.. 'Garnett acts as their center'... doesn't mean they wouldn't be much better with KG at PF and a dominant center. That would be double scary, no?

Denver, Phoenix... would take a Yao in an instant. It's simple, points in the paint trump everything. He might play fewer minutes... but absolute terror for other teams having to swing back and forth from defending a giant post presence to a fast-break offense; a match-up nightmare, few teams would be able to create any rythm on offense as they must adjust for defense.

Only GS is a question since their Nellie is 'unique', who knows what he would want. :)

You know, I like Charles, but he is sounding dumber and dumber everyday. I mean, anyone with a brain knows that Camby shouldn't start over Yao. Charles can't be this stupid, it has to be for show.

lmao....I'll agree to disagree with my man Wekko......the funny thing is Centers don't even necessarily have to run the floor, usually they'll be the ones rebounding and shooting the outlet pass (which Yao is good at)....it's not like Yao will need to run constantly.....and no matter how much you run there comes a time in the playoffs when every team slows it down...that's where Yao comes in

Barkley's large fat rear end never got over being WRONG about Yao. Yao has so thoroughly proven Barkley wrong, it is quite embarrassing for Barkley.
Yao is the most dominant big man in the game with HIGH double doubles........nearly every game. He has 26 double-doubles for the season and YET presumably b/c Yao is chineese and he has a macho black-man ego that says "I can't handle a chineese man dominating a black-man, I never thought I would EVER see the day"
BARKLEY, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH

Last I checked, Toronto and Utah werent up-tempo teams. Neither is Boston. Or detroit.

you have to understand that the argument is "if a team had to replace their starting center with camby or yao, who would they select?"

if you think yao is a better defender than camby, then you're blinded by your loyalty.

have you even observed the pistons offense? billups, hamilton, and crew are more than just jump shooters. playing on the same team as yao would place limitations on their games.

the pistons have had success these few years. i'm sure they believe they're the best team in the nba. that being said, why would they want to change their entire gameplan? with camby, their offense doesnt decline. their defense will improve a lot though. they wont have to go through drastic gameplan changes.

i took some accounting classes before. what exactly is a prime asset? whats a deficit column? are you just making these terms up?

Of course my logic proves nothing. Its only my opinion. If it proved something, it would be fact.

With yao in the mix, i'm not so certain that bosh and boozer would continue to develop. How much did kobe develop when he was with eddie jones? michael redd and ray allen? tmac and vince carter?

it doesnt matter what you call KG, he plays the same position as yao. in the scenario at hand, you cant have both.

You think phoenix would rather have yao than stoudemire?
