Thats such a great point. I think with the in-season tournament the NBA needs to try and fuse that event in with some of these other features. Have Vegas host a 4 day event where the feature event is the tournament but the day before have a feature day with dunk contest, 3 point etc. No need for pointless exhibition at all. The All Stars can just be announced and it’ll make it more prestigious when you aren’t getting it watered down with half of the team injured and you’re playing reserves who are only there because of injuries.
I think almost everyone felt a tournament - instead of the ASG - during this break would’ve made way more sense. And they can do it easily, have games of 10 / 20 / 30 minutes with the selected all stars. Have 4 teams with best coaches of the league who each have 6 players, conferences not sure, but no more 5 starters announced: just the top 2 front court and 2 back court players who can be selected first. Then the rest of the selected. Allow the coaches to select their guys according to a draft. Then let them play each other once or immediately a bracket with a best of 3 and the finals. Something like that.
It would be better if they had an innovative idea every contest.....like inviting All Stars from the Euro League to America. The Kobe memorial rules .....were the start.
