No, ROX, I don't get it. The comparison is right there, in the title of your thread, and I find it's use by you shocking, almost as shocking as the fact that you seem not to realize just how sad and disturbing it is to see you stoop to this level of discourse. Do you really think things are that bad that it is worth this? Do you feel in danger? Is this akin to the collective meltdown of the Right, seeing it all not only slip away, but the many years of the GOP/Far Right/Religious Fundamentalist grip on national power being tossed into the trash heap of history by the American people, without a glance back at the garbage?

We're headed to the Future, ROX, and despite the stunning catastrophe left to the country, the world, and our children by those you defend, I think it will be a better future. You should polish your telescopic sights and take a gander. It's not as bad as you seem to think. Certainly not the election of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The mess left by the GOP and their culture war certainly is as bad as you think. At least I hope you've been following the news. It is grim. Anyone elected will have a damned near impossible task righting our ship of state and the state of the world and our allies. Time to role up our collective sleaves and get to work, not root around in slime up to your neck.

You can do that ROX. Yes, you can. :)

So, you tell your daughters that it's okay to be a birdbrained fundamentalist social conservative, that even absolute mediocrity can't keep you from running for VP of the U.S....but kids singing for Obama is like singing for Hitler.

I guess the Skinheads these days are all reading "My Pet Goat"?

Well, it's very hard for me to take this thread or the "question" seriously. I'm sorry. Especially with the obligatory "Hitler" reference. So King Cheetah's cat photo seemed like the best response to me.

But I'll try. Kids singing for any candidate, or parents telling their kids what to think about politics (ahem), etc, is disturbing, period.

But the idea that there are extremes and idiots on both sides of any issue? That's not news. Not at all. For MadMax, we're showing restraint in not posting the Jesus Camp stuff, but it's chilling.

So, unless Barack is ordering kids to sing to him, or unless Bush is ordering kids to sing to him, or Palin (well, I can actually see her ordering that... "sing! and get married at 17! mwah-ha-ha-ha!... maverick!" so nevermind).

I just don't find anything interesting or surprising at all in this thread. Hell, here in San Francisco, there are probably people training kids to sing to Ralph Nader (throws up a little in mouth).

Let me backtrack...Sorry to rehash, but here it is. There is a comparison!

The comparison is little kids singing in praise for a political leader in the current. It does remind me of an ugly style in which little kids singed for Adolf. Why? because I have not seen it so since...Perhaps I missed the kids singing for Bush, or Jimmy Carter, or Walter Mondale, or Nixon,...but let's say it happened....

I would still make the comparison of this style. Now you don't like that...? Sorry we disagree.

BTW, I was being partially humorous in my "outrage", but I meant what I said about apologizing...Now leroy420 called "bulls***" and implied I'm a liar...well bulls*** on him, his mother, and his green eyed granny!!!... Rocketman95 is himself...(maybe he'll make a marriage work)...You guys want to get ugly. No problem...But I will not stand to have someone disagree with my sincerity when I have stated so...I apologized for the comparison in the thread because the comparison is on the style NOT on anything else.

Tying it to Hitler was funny, only because the similarity in style of the kids singing surely was. The comparison starts there and ends there. The message of hope is different. The best part was when all the snot nosed kids were going in all kinds of directions...

I like Obama...I think he will be great. If not, we'll pull a Jimmy Carter on him and get somebody else in there that's how our country works best...disagree? fine...no problem. I disagree with you. We can still watch the game together. Nobody thinks alike...It's fine. You and I are entrenched in certain beliefs. I like gun rights. I like Trumans, I like Palins,...I don't like the progressive democrats of the modern era. I don't like socialists unless SHTF and we have to temporarily set up a socialist government (inside joke...see shtfblog.com )..

Now I don't think things are bad. We are not in danger. I actually like some, er no many of the things Obama says...

So why am I posting all this to you...Because some here won't believe me no matter what. Some posters who have posted here are idiots...especially B-bob...;)... I don't care. Others such as DaDakota know a lot of this back and forth is a game...and someone like you really knows when I'm being sincere as you have proven in the past...

This thread was extremely entertaining, but if we all agree that indoctrination of children is wrong.. what about religion?

Kids just aren't old enough to make those kinds of decisions. Of course they'll sing a song if you give them one. I remember being 5 in public school and singing a song about Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, and Pizza Hut at one point at an assembly. I felt used and I still do. :D

The interesting part about this thread to me is thinking about all the excess Hitler comparisons that have happened in the last decade. Which qualities are pinpointed and how they try and tie the two together.

I'm going to back ROXFAN on this. The thread title and topic seems intentionally provocative, but the issue he's bringing up is a legitimate one.

Kids should not be singing in praise of any political leader, in my view. And Barack Obama certainly doesn't deserve this level of hero worship. That's just not healthy.

Thank you, I appreciate that....BTW I love poking B-Bob because even though I like the guy, he gets rattled much easier than the average poster here and seems to forget what a wink means. ...

Completely agree with you. Being baptized after a couple of months of enjoying light, is one of the 2 things that I question about my religion, catholicism. I don't mind, but i would have liked to been asked.
