My wife and I actually discussed this and decided that we don't need some made-up, superficial day to express our love for each other. We aren't doing a fancy dinner or gifts, and we're both happy with the amount of stress we are eliminating from our lives by doing so. I thought it was a trap when she agreed, but it's not. It helps that we've been together for nearly 15 years...we both feel Valentine's day is just kinda silly at this point.
Been married 13 years...dated for 3 years before that. My wife and I didn't need to celebrate Valentine's Day on Saturday night...but I sure enjoyed date night with her celebrating Valentine's Day on Saturday night.
Right! ...and I must add that even though she and I agreed no dinner or gifts, I still bought her a little something....just to be on the safe side.
Oh darn, a day that "makes" me buy a good bottle of wine. What will I do? I hope to survive the horror.
My wife and I don't ever do anything for Valentine's day. We actually both forgot that it was today until we heard it on the radio on the way to work.
I'm not so bothered by Valentine's day as I am by jewelry and florists commercials. I really can't stand the Kay Jewelers' commercials. I feel like I am drowning in syrup every time I see one of those.
Don't understand anti-VDay sentiments. As MadMax said, what is wrong with having an excuse to go on a date! And buy a beautiful girl a little something. completely odd to me to not take advantage of VDay.
My girlfriend doesn't care about these types of things, even birthdays and christmas gifts. She appeciates more the gifts on random occassions. That being said, I'm still getting her a little something on the way home.
the day where all the working women receive what looks like the exact same flower displays so they can parade around with flowers in their hand and show them off at their desk and to their co-workers so they feel special and get extra attention over it. in my best bill clinton voice, "I LOVE THIS DAY!". not really.
Does <s>Jessica Lane</s> your mom have a Valentine's date tonight? EDIT: I'm just saying, man... not for me... for the single fellas... That's what SHE laughed at.
