Things of the past (Monopoly - and Bank errors staying in your favor). RM95, tell the bank first. This will cover you if it results in any NSF's or the like (in case you spent money that wasn't there based on a wrong total- a bank error). They should cover any overdraft fees they may have created.
Luckily that hasn't been a problem, IROC it. Phew, it's nice to say that. That actually did happen around the honeymoon. We spent a good chunk of change on the trip and the first of the month came while we were there. I dropped my rent off early the morning we left (28th) with the check dated the 1st. Well, I get home and I have a few overdraft fee notices in my mailbox because the complex cashed the check on the 29th and the bank let it go through. My first trip to the bank yielded nothing as they said they always let through big authorized charges like car payments and mortgages/rent. I told them it wasn't authorized since it was before the 1st, which is what I put on my check. Luckily, my wife has a family friend who works at our bank and he was able to wipe all the fees off.
Yep. Close one. My wife has been in banking for 9+ years, and she says banks could really care less about post-dated checks. Usually, if it's filled out properly and signed, it's live. Glad this didn't happen in this most recent case. I've had it happen too, and it is very frustrating to explain to every customer service department you send a payment to in the aftermath of such a blunder that it was not your fault. Most of them are so used to being scammed, they automatically assume you're running a scam too.
