I didn't mean you'd said anything! I was just giving a gentle reminder. It's hard not to give details. I have to watch myself all the time when discussing films and the like.
First episode was great, gonna suck having to wait a whole week between episodes. I first watched BOB with the box set so just did them all in a weekend.
I liked it, but it was surprisingly short and seemed to move at a quicker pace than Band of Brothers, which is actually kind of good. I think I'm more interested in seeing the different strategic battles and the Japanese tactics than I am seeing the Marines go through training. The preview for the rest of the season got me much more excited about the upcoming episodes.
Just watched the first episode. Spoiler You always go into these dramas tense because you know how violent they can be so I'm happy it wasn't too vicious and kind of set the tone in a light fashion. Great start and can't wait for the next one.
Hope has been restored. Upon scolling through my direct tv menu, I found that T101, also the home of friday night lights, will be re airing it tonight. I don't have HBO so this is huge. =) *hopefully it's the actual episode and not the making of.
just enrolled in HBO/Showtime for a year and saw the episode OnDemand. very powerful opening to the miniseries... the actors do these amazing stories justice...
You're not wrong. I thought the acting in Band of Brothers was on par with any movie I have ever watched. Really pulled you into the story right away and kept you in it for 10 episodes.
Watched the first part last night. While character delineation is a bit short to my liking and I don't feel the multitude of psyche of a good war movie usually provide, the battle scenes from first person perspective were outstanding. I guess depending on your taste, one may or may not like the entire series. The new yorker review, which I read today, echoed a lot of my feelings just after watching the first part. http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/television/2010/03/15/100315crte_television_franklin BTW, since I know a little bit about Guadalcanal landing, I could understand it the general plot of the first part. It's hard for me to imagine to someone w/o the knowledge could catch what's going on, which the first part did a very good job of depicting pieces and bits of the big picture, but didn't bother to tell what the big picture was. Also I swear I saw the last scene talked about in WWII in color that the newbies talked tough but didn't really know what they really walked into. Anyone catch it?
THAT'S where I remembered that part! I was thinking like deja vu or something as I swear I had seen that scene or something similar not too long ago.
The first episode was a ratings dud. http://www.thewrap.com/ind-column/ratings-pacific-campaign-opens-31-million-viewers-15326 Not a surprise, I'm sure a lot of people are watching this, but not on HBO.
I am pretty sure HBO will not be disappointed with ratings. Like the article said it is comparing apples to oranges when talking about Band of Brothers. HBO showed it on several different channels at several different times. In 2001 all those channels were counted together, now they are separate. I imagine when they combine the channels and include dvr ratings, it will be close to or beyond BoB. I know personally I dvr'd the replay on HBO-W, I would not be counted in the HBO ratings yet, and I am sure I am not the only one.
Which will no doubt be good. They've already admitted that they were wrong in canceling Rome after 2 seasons, before they had seen the DVD sales.
Just.... That was seriously intense to watch. I knew the story beforehand, but I don't remember watching something that had me so tuned in while having my heart beat uncontrollably. Just an amazing episode.
Another great episode, was on the edge of m seat the entire time. I'm wondering how far this series will cover. Will it show u dropping the bomb(s) towards the end of the war?
