I went ahead and gave it a try tonight suing my Chromecast device on my 50", it worked flawlessly. Great picture quality and I'm using WiFi.
What's exactly going on? It worked fine with wi-fi at around only 20 mbps but I lost the HD feed for parts of the second half. I bought a long ethernet cable to plug into the Roku (2 XS) during games. Hopefully, that makes the stream even better.
Many thanks to the people who have repped me for BallStreams. I really appreciate your repping gesture of kindness! I just hope you're all somewhere near as happy as I am because BallStreams has changed my entire NBA/Rockets watching experience!
It gave me some color bars along with a loud, bad sound that made me think the speakers were being strained. This only happened once I selected the Rockets/Mavs stream to play. Once the picture and sound started going to hell, the Roku (also a 2 XS) would freeze so that I couldn't back out or go to the Roku Home screen. The Roku would then shut off after 10 or so seconds of the color bars/static/loud sound, and then slowly reboot itself. This happened the first two times I tried to watch the stream. The third time, it worked OK. It was pretty clearly the BallStreams stream that caused the problem. But, whatever, I got it to work eventually, and my Roku is still working for now.
^Interesting. I didn't have any issues as far as color bars or loud noise. I did have some issues like I do with Netflix. After I try to forward, it freezes on me. It let me back out to the home screen where I have to connect to the wifi again. I did have better success by only forwarding at the slowest speed (one click). With Netflix, when it freezes, I have to disconnect and retart the Roku sometimes. All in all, I'm very impressed with it and can't wait to see how it is when I directly connect the ethernet cable into the Roku. Edit: I do remember seeing some static type stuff (color bars?).. That seemed like it was the stream. Kinda like when the stream gets blurry for a second. This happened for like a second 2 or 3 times.
Never ever EVER buy anything from them. They are scammers, liars, and rip-off artists, and have possibly the worst 'customer service' on the entire internet. Biggest clue: they tell you THEMSELVES their ship dates are one to two WEEKS after you place your order! And then, a month after THAT and you still haven't received your order, or it's not the item you ordered, or it's broken or clearly a used item when they claimed it was new, instead of honoring their price, they will just inform you that the item is no longer available and (if you're lucky) they will just refund your money. All of that, when you could have spent maybe ten bucks more at Amazon and had your item within 3 days. Never ever EVER buy anything from those jerks.
Regarding the Roku.. I also had issues last night. Since the 'Start From the Beginning' option always seems to start by picking up the last 5 minutes of some NBATV show and then a whole bunch of commercials and things before the actual GAME, I decided to try to fast-forward, since I was about 90 minutes behind the game. Bad move. It put the Roku in a loop, meaning it would say 'Loading' and then play the same ten seconds of some commercial over and over again. I tried to back out to the home page, which I could do, but then when I restarted the Ballstreams channel, and selected the Mavs-Rockets game, instead of insisted on giving me the live feed of the Jazz game. ???? Anyway, I had to totally reboot the Roku, and also, I noticed that it had defaulted me to a server in Singapore. I switched over the the North America server, then navigated to the game, tried again, and it worked. So I guess the moral is, the 'DVR' features may work ok the computer when using the Ballstreams website, but it definitely does not like working on the Roku. So, no skipping halftime or commercials for me.. Will have to try again, to see if maybe it was just an issue of being on that Singapore server, or maybe there was something else going on too.. We'll see though. At any rate, once again, the actual quality of the broadcast was superb!
Yes, my experience is that you don't want to be doing fast forward or rewind on Roku, XBox, or PS3. If I need fast forward or rewind, I switch to Airplay to my Apple TV.
I mentioned this but I got pretty good results from fast forwarding at one click (slowest speed). It actually seems like a legit work-around. I'm hoping the ethernet cable will help with the buffer/freezing issue.
I decided to sign up last night and you guys were on the money in terms of quality and ease of use. I went the PayPal route instead of providing them my CC. It took one simple e-mail asking for the PayPal feature and within "literally 2-3" minutes for them to activate the feature and I was able to get my account to "Premium".. One thing to check though is that they automatically sign you up for auto-renewal. Make sure to cancel that option in your Paypal account.
I think I'm gonna give in and finally get it Just a couple of questions to make sure (sorry if they've already been asked). 1. What would be the minimum internet speed required? I did a speed test and got 12 mbps. Is that good enough? 2. Would it be safer to pay through paypal or should I get a prepaid card? Thanks in advance
I can't get over the fact that a streaming website for sports is called, ballstream??? Here are just some suggestion for a new name: 1. Slam360 2. Rocketliftoff 3. OutofBoundsstreams 4. 4pointplay 5.???
 Awesome. I'm so glad it's working out so far! May this year be the year of BallStreams and a 3rd Rockets championship! 1. I have 12MBPS as well buddy. We can be internet bandwith buddies if you'd like! Btw, 12MPBS is more than enough. I easily watch 2 games at once in high quality on Mozilla Firefox streamed via HDMI from my laptop to my TV! My laptop has pretty good specs tho, and a decent GPU! Keep that in mind bro! 2. PayPal is pretty safe. If anything does go wrong, you'll know. So just be relaxed for now and let your BallStream! *3. If you ever need any help, lemme know. I will try my best to help you out. I like BallStreams. Slam360 would not be good, because it'd seem like they were copying ESPN360 sorta, kinda. Rocketliftoff is not good, because the service is not only dedicated for the Rockets. 3&4 were not as clever as I hoped they'd be. Sorry man. BallStreams wins, for now! And I hope it keeps on winnin and keeps on streamin for ever!
U assume the founders of the site are American. they are probably Scandinavian and this is some lousy translation.
The NBA is rich. I also don't think BallStreams would or will affect the NBA. I personally don't think many people even know about it. We are prolly the few hundreds maybe thousand who know about it. Out of us few thousands on Clutchfans who knows about it, how many do you think actually got it? I wouldn't say many. Now compare that to the countless thousands who do own NBA LP/other local networks that are helping the NBA stack up more money. Another note, NBA LP has been out for a very long time. I'm sure there are thousands who are religious with NBA LP and the NBA is making good money it? I could be completely wrong. But just my 2 cents. It's 2 am, and I just had 4 bags or popcorn. Hahaha.
