Do you guys know why the Blazers are trying to trade him? Cause he's going to bolt overseas after his rookie contract is up.
Agree! Fernandez was a very unhappy cat in Portland. A change of scenery could do wonders. While Kyle does a host of things better than Rudy, shooting ain't one of them.
No...if he could get consistent playing time and he ends up being a productive nba player he will more than likely stay in the nba. but their coach is not giving him any trust and he can barely get off the bench
Considering Hedo makes $12 million per, I would easily extend Rudy for half that. Similar to the Lowry deal...
I agree on all fronts. Hedo is actually insanely overpaid, but Fernandez could easily justify a Lowry-contract. The important thing here is, he doesn't care about the money, all he wants is a BIG role on the team and playtime. Give him that and I think he'll stay for even less than what Lowry got.
We should jump all over this deal while it's not too late. I say give them some expirings such as Jeffries and a young prospect like Taylor or Budinger. Keep Battier and Ariza for the deadline.
Yeah. Win win for both parties. Rockets get a legit back up and possibly starter if and when Martin goes out and Blazers get an expiring and good defender and a young prospect. We can still use Battier's contract to net a star come the trade deadline.
I'd probably stay away from Pryzbilla. I think he is out for like 6 months and his injury might be a career ender. Better to go for a guy like Brad Miller who is cheaper and will be more reliable. I'd ask about Nicolus Batum's situation also, but I doubt Blazers are gonna give him up.
Shane Battier + David Andersen for Fernandez + Pryzbilla. We get our Battier replacement / SG backup and we get a competent backup C.
Doesn't matter. FIBA has reciprocity with the NBA. As long as he's under contract, Rudy cannot sign with any FIBA team. In TWO YEARS??? Okay. Fine with me. I'll take two years of Rudy Fernandez on a dirt cheap rookie deal and then have his Bird rights in 2012. At that point, we'll see how badly he wants to head back to Europe. If he's awesome, the Rockets could likely offer him more money than any team in Europe. If he sucks, let him go. Anywhere in between? We'll see. But it's still two years on a dirt cheap deal. THAT, my friend, is good value.
At this point, Pryzbilla's career is likely over after his knee injury. His injury is way more serious than Yao's. Getting a more injury prone backup to Yao is just asinine. Rather would just get Rudy in a package and sign a reliable backup like Brad Miller for cheap.
I take that last statement back. Didn't know Pryzbilla was an expiring contract. How bout Jeffries + Budinger + Harris for Rudy + Pryzbilla + Cunningham Sign Brad Miller. Save Battier's contract for the deadline. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Rudy/Taylor Ariza/Battier/Cunningham Scola/Patterson Yao/Miller/Pryzbilla/Hill Use Hayes as a situational defender. Bima, what do you think?
Good point on Pryzbilla, but why insist on giving up Budinger? The Blazers were (prob still are) high on Battier, and I bet the rest of us would much rather give up Battier than Budinger.
