Skip the baking, cut the thing up, and sautee it in butter.

BP's rock...Their best in the over, but for those of us short on time, 5 minutes on each side in the microwave is good enought...

I bury mine with butter, Sour Cream and a hell of a lot of cheese...

I actually just had one for lunch...mmmm...

I'm spoiled. I don't like plain baked potatoes or those with just butter and sour cream. At least put some cheese and bacon in it. Or chili. Better yet, crabmeat, white cheese, and mushrooms. The potato is kind of plain, but it makes a great substrate for other things...

(please ignore the frequent use of terms like "substrate". Too many years in the science lab.)

Here's a recipe for a stuffed baked potato. Everybody I have fed it to loves it:

    Ingredients need:

    Baking Potatoes
1lb Turkey or Ham or mixture of both
    10 oz. of white mushrooms
    1 large tomato
    1 large yellow onion
    1 large green bell pepper
    butter or margarine
    ranch dressing

Bake potatoes on 400 degrees for 1 hour

While potatoes are baking prepare stuffing:

Heat and melt butter in a large saucepan.
Add mushrooms and cook over medium heat 10-15 minutes.
Next add peppers and onions and cook and additional 10-15 minutes.
Then add turkey and/or ham and cook for 10 minutes.
Add tomato cook another 5 minutes
    Set stuffing aside.

Take out potatoes and slice but not in two. Press potatoes in bowl shapes, add butter, sour cream, salt, or other additions you prefer. Then generously add stuffing to each potato. Top with ranch dressing. Absolutely marvelous.
