Wednesday October 24 10:29 PM ET Report: Bagwell to Have Surgery HOUSTON (AP) - Houston first baseman Jeff Bagwell, who played the entire season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, is expected to have surgery this week, The Houston Chronicle reported. The Chronicle cited several Astros players in the report Thursday. The newspaper said Bagwell was not available for comment and that Astros officials would not comment. Bagwell hit .288 this year with 39 homers and 130 RBIs. He was 3-for-7 with no RBIs as the Atlanta Braves swept the Astros in the first round of the playoffs. The Chronicle also said the Astros will hold off on signing general manager Gerry Hunsicker to a contract extension until they've hired a replacement for manager Larry Dierker. Hunsicker is entering the final year of his contract.
