    [Press Conference] Scheduled for Friday for Bagwell

    Don't know if it has been posted or talked about yet. As you know we have our weekly Astroline radio show here with 740, so i talk to a lot of the people in the Astros Orginization. We were talking about the trade and things. Then it came up that they were going to have a press conference this Friday to announce Bagwells retirement and him signing a personal services contract. Thought i would give you guys the heads up....unless it's already been discussed...in that case it will be locked up and ready for the trash lol.

    It's been a good ride for the most part with Bagwell. I grew up with this guy being a rookie and watch him till now. Sucks how it ended but overall brought some excitment to Astros Baseball along with Biggio.

    Is Bagwell a Hall of Famer? Vote for him on www.espn.com.

    Right now Iowa and Michigan are Bagwell haters.

    Today was kind of a sad day for me . I knew one day Baggy would hang it up but it sucks that it had to be this soon . Bagwell is the player that really got me back into baseball and gave me the passion that I have for the sport today . Bagwell has and always will be my favorite athlete . There is no football , basketball , or baseball player that I looked up to and admired as much as him . I have a Jeff Bagwell memorabilia collection that takes up a whole bedroom by itself . I have somewhere around 460 different baseball cards , numerous posters , plaques , pennants , all of his Starting Lineup and his McFarlane figures , 14 different jerseys , and 22 Bagwell baseball caps . I'm sure I'm leaving of a few things . :D

    He was a true professional on and off the field . I loved his approach to the game . He was so humble and easy going no matter how bad things seemed to be . He wasn't the type of player to stare his homeruns down like he had never seen one before , he put his head down and ran around the bases like a a true professional . People can say what they want to about the guy and his playoff struggles , and that's fine they have every right to . To me it went way beyond what he did on the field that made me such a fan . It was his attitude in general and his friendly soft spoken persona . He never talked trash , or did any of the things that you see so much of in today's athletes . I had the pleasure of meeting Baggy on several occasions and each time he was more cordial and accommodating as any athlete I have ever met . He remembered me after the 4th time I met him . Thats pretty cool . I was at the Dome when they had just lost a bad game that was blown by Jay "Throw In The Towel" Powell , and I figured they wouldn't be in too good of a mood to sign autographs . Of all the players that did come out to sign , he stayed longer and signed more than anyone . My cousin was 7 years old at the time and Bagwell signed a poster for him , and he had his gym bag on his shoulder . My cousin told him that his glove was stuck in the zipper of his bag , so Baggy said "thanks for the heads up little man " , he took the batting glove out and signed it for my cousin . That's just a good guy . You can tell this just by being around him . The Hall Of Fame is waiting on Bagwell , and I hope he makes it there soon . Thanks for all the memories Jeff , you will be missed bro .

    I hate those damn websites that just start playing audio without asking. Some of us are at work and don't want some cold medicine commerical suddenly playing out of our PC speakers.

    Yes, it's very annoying. I remember when ESPN was hyping the new ESPN motion for you to download. It turns out it's just an advertising tool.

    sucker = me.

    Happy Trails Baggy...

    I'll always remember his batting stance and how the ball would just launch off of his bat.

    Bagz was awesome.

    But...I was always curious as to why he didn't just learn to throw left handed?

    I'm 23 now, so it's hard to remember back before Biggio and Bagwell were Astros. They've always been a part of the Astros as long as I've been a fan so I'll miss watching Bagwell play. It was strange not seeing him on the field this past season and it will be even more strange once Biggio retires as well.
