Bad Section(s) of Major Cities

    When I was moving from the Westchase area to the 3rd Ward, I looked at the beat reports of various areas around town to see if I was a fool to buy a house there. Anecdotally, what I found was that the 3rd Ward had a lot more drug-crimes but much fewer burglaries and thefts (especially of cars) than Westchase. I figured I was better off with the drug-users than the car-jackers.

    That's the other thing I was going to point out just to be fair, if you are looking for drugs, then yes 3rd and 5th ward are probably your best bet if you were just going on some random search. But as far as property crimes or violent crimes, I would bet the statistics are not much higher than other parts of Houston.

    I agree. Like I said in my earlier post, I spend alot of time in the 3rd Ward late at night playing music, and I have never had a problem. Meanwhile, 15 minutes from my home in SW Houston, there are murders out the wazoo.
