****. after college, im going to look forward to standing on the corner of westeimer and highways 6 holding up a sign. im going to share the space with that one guy....
<holding up sign> Will Provide Legal Representation for Rockets Tix. DISCLAIMER: This was a joke and in no way is intended to be an actual solicitation.
I'll provide software designing or IT support for Rockets Tix! Hey Refman, we should create a new Software engineering + Legal Representation company via this BBS! Judging by many of the posts I've read, I'm sure many of these people have trouble with the law and/or computer problems that need fixin'!
you gonna be one of those guys selling those umbrella hats at that intersection? I used to intern for a major oil company near that area back in college and would pass those guys every morning. I never saw a single person buy a hat from them though. Hmm... I think that last statement deserves a
Drew, call me on my cell. If you don't mind doing temp or temp-perm work I'll see what I can do to help you out. I don't have many job openings, but who knows what may come up.
Nope, the unemployed man's club sponsors would have to include: Shiner Bock beer Sony (televisions, computers, stereos, and all other home entertainment equipment that helps pass the time) Hill Country Fare brand Ramen Noodles (or whatever that cheap brand is called) and of course... Mattress Giant! "ooh ahh, only at mattress giant!"
Drewdog, That is definitely a sucky thing. Hopefully, you will find something soon. Refman and drapg, I was unemployed for like 3 months from November 1999 to February 2000, and I went nuts (almost). Of course, I hadn't found this place at the time, so maybe I would have been able to keep my sanity at that time! Oh and Mrs. JB, I never would have guessed you to be the surly type....after all, you are married to Jeff. Is that one of those opposites attract things that you always hear about it?
With all that internet time, one would think you'd be able to field a competitive fantasy football team. At least the donut vendors are happy.
That sucks Drewdog. I'm not exactly ecstatic working where I work, but I'm not going to complain when I see other people out there looking for anything. If I got canned (which isn't exactly a remote possibility the way things are going around here), I could make it without a salary for a pretty long time, but the thought of not making money irks me. Good luck, man.
Thanks for the support guys...... I think I can live comfortably for about 2 months then I am going to start to freak out. I might have to join the unemployment club for a while though. All I know is that I am never going to take another office/paperwork bs job. I just end up getting bored quickly and spend all day emailing and surfing the web. Anyone want to start a small business? I have a lot of ideas....
Is DFS hiring? I was responsible for their account at my previous job (mailing out all of the credit decline letters).
Drewdog, That sucks <B>big</B> time. Really sorry to hear it. I hope it wasn't because you brought me to play softball. You come up to Dallas, a night of drinking on me buddy.
Actually my background is software engineering... but i'm really interested in switching into sports journalism... i created a sports web site back in March where I write columns about news in sports. I've advertised it out and i average about 100 hits a day... i know its nothing compared to cc.net, but its a monumental accomplishment for me... i've even e-mailed the URL to some sports writers for newspapers and television media and have received a lot of positive feedback... they all tell me I should try to pursue a career in sports journalism. unfortunately, i can't quite get my foot in the door because i have a Computer Sciences background, not a Journalism degree. Oh well, until I figure something out, it will just have to be a hobby. if you're curious, the URL is: www.g-sports.net (i'm sure many have noticed it in my sig in the past)
