I’d rather give them Hill than Budinger. Hill hasn’t really displayed a skill that stands out. He doesn’t have a go to move and he isn’t very good on defense. Hill gets a lot of garbage points. Budinger has proven that he can create offense.

    Negative.

    Chase Budinger...ZONA
    1. 16-6-2
    2. 17-5-3
    3. 18-6-3

    Ray Allen...UCONN
    1. 13-5-2
    2. 21-7-2
    3. 23-7-3

Chase Budinger has proven that he does not have the mentality that is needed to make great leaps. He is what he is, and that is OK, and great value in the second round.

    Knote,

I am trying hard not to laugh at your posts comparing college numbers, different coaches, different roles...

I am not saying he IS Ray Allen but that he possesses some of the same qualities and abilities and team's can really use that.

I haven't seen a lot of Randolph, but I'd side with him over Don Nelson in this one...Nelson hasn't been relevant in 20 years with his gimmick offense and no defense. He's a glorified pick-up game coach.

Many of us also thought that Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry had peaked at the end of last season. Then this season, we saw Carl become a great 4th quarter scorer, and Aaron awarded the MIP. The Rockets coaching staff has always done a good job of maximizing a player's potential. And I don't see why not Chase can get a lot better as well. I haven't seen anything from this past season that would indicate that Chase doesn't have that "mentality" to improve.

What he was saying he's a poor man's RA

What Houston needs more than off ball movement is some interior D and shot blocking. We need a KG kind of type more than Ray Ray. Glad to have them both though.

    Is that what he said?

His shot might not get as effiecient as Rays' shot, but I thought DD mentioned how Bud moves around without the ball like Ray Allen...

"Worst NBA defenders vs isolation sets (min 50pos): Randy Foye, Arenas, J-Richardson, Jrue Holiday, Devin Brown, Amare Stoud, Chase Budinger Mo Williams, Antawn Jamison, Vlad Radmanovic, DJ Augustin, Anthony Morrow."

You would think that this guy would have improved 1 millimeter in College If he had such limitless upside as you say DaDakota. I love CBud's game, but there is more than opinion backing up the idea that he has a very limited upside. There is history.

Exactly my point, but it gets lost a lot when you put up a name, some people lose sight of the point, and leap to a conclusion based upon a name.

And Randolph posses the same qualities and abilities of Kevin Garnett.

I think we could use a Kevin Garnett type of player (since we're throwing loose analogies like there's no tomorrow)

To me, it is a fair deal for both. We can use 6th pick to get the top 4 pick or do Bosh trade if he wants to come, either ways, I do not see we lose much, but could win a bit of more.

There is nothing in what you said, that concerns Chase Budinger's history, you have made conclusions based upon others that do not in any way reflect Chase.

All you have is 1 year of NBA data in which to go upon, and if you look at his numbers POST all star game, he was making significant strides.

If you think he has peaked at the age of 22, then there is nothing to talk about.....

    Just not the smarts......

This is honestly not that easy to answer, I think if Randolph had his head on straight he might be a really good player, but we know that Chase already has his head on straight and is trending that way faster.

If you go by the way the NBA is structured and the rules favoring the outside perimeter players, then both have ball handling abilities, but Chase would be positioned more out there.

I honestly would love to have them both, and would give up Hill......and reluctantly too, as I think Hill has just about as much upside as Randolph and is way smarter....

So, to answer your question, I think they are even on upside potential with one already proving that he is a good teamate...give me that guy.

Anyone that has played ball can attest to the fact that it gets very, VERY hard to improve the older you get, after the initial burst of developing physically. Most players don't improve much after they hit about 17-18. Great players can widen that gap, and truly great players like Kobe can continue to improve throughout their later years. Chase was similar to what he is now, 4 years ago at Zona. He has for sure made improvements that come with playing with better players, but likening his upside to that of a Ray Allen is unintelligent.

This is what you said, and to me, it is ridiculous, and false.

Plain and simple, Chase does not have a better skillset than Randolph. Randolph at 20 already has 2 years in the league and still a higher ceiling than Chase. Don't get it twisted, i like Bud alot but i like the Rockets more. It still hurts to see Artest play for another team, but it would be better for the team in the long run. It will be even better when Boston beats them. Also it hurt to Landry go, but we got Martin in return. Randolph will definitely upgrade the team. Losing Bud would not be noticable enough to panic, so i say do it yesterday!

    WTF are you talking about?

    You don't improve after 17 or 18? ROFLMAO...really?

Most players hit their peak and improve incrementally after year 3....Chase has had one year.....come on....don't improve after 17...lol.....

And Ray Allen is exactly how Chase plays, the way he moves off the ball.

That is what I am talking about...most intelligent fans can understand that...(to use your line).
