Why do that when it is a risk.

Honestly, why not just keep Cbud and trade the 14, and a Knicks pick plus an expiring etc?

No need to give up CBud.....Taylor - sure...but not CBud, he has tools that a lot of players will never have....

Even If he were to leave he'd be restricted. Same as Budinger. Budinger will get offers and the Rockets would have to match. they are both on rookie contracts.

You're right about reaching potential though. Randolph's ceiling is Star player. Budinger's is great role player. It does take a little extra time to reach a higher ceiling.

This would be low risk, potential high reward.

DD just compared Budinger to LeBron. LOL, thanks for that.

I have had enough of the Bosh talk. It is possible that Morey will pass up a lot of good deals to get to Bosh. Randolph + #6 is a great deal IMO. You get a back-up for Scola who can score and contribute right away. You get a #6 pick in a deep draft. A great chance to shore up the SF,PF and C positions. The trade will only cost us the #14, C. Bud and a 2012 pick, which still leaves us with enough talent to make something else happen. Maybe do the Elton Brand + #3 with a trade of Hill, Jeffries/Battier and the 2011 pick. I know, its a pipe dream, but for the most part, this will be the first time that i have questioned Morey's hesitation.

    The big 3.

    1. Athleticism
    2. Shot making ability
    3. Bball IQ

Getting a player that has all those tools is fairly rare.

Most players are lacking in one of those 3 areas, and when you find one that has all 3, and has a great work ethic.......

    You have hit the lottery.

Tell ya what though, I would do this deal if it was HILL instead of CBud.....

If randolph has game and doesn't abuse his blog, then I believe he can be coached by the great Rick. Phil jaxxxxon gets all the credit for being the zen master, rick is pretty zen himself.
I'm not sure I would want to part with chase though. He is going to be something special. The guy can hit a jumpshot, fly, and from interviews, willing to learn to play D.

Miller turned 30 a few months ago. He averaged 11/6/4 on 50%/48%/82% shooting. Quite amazing. His shooting is great, he is a good athlete. Chase is obviously the better dunker.

    I like it.

    Yao / Randolph / Hayes
    Scola / Cousins / Andersen
    Ariza / Battier / Jeffries
    Martin / Miller / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Solid front court, solid back court. The backups would have won more games them a few NBA teams last season (although that's not saying much).

    I like this plan B.

that was a great game to watch. randolph clearly had that punkish rookie feel about him, while at the same time you were impressed by the kids athleticism and "gumption" (is that still a word!)

You like to much CBud, you make me think about those fans that say that Scola is as good as Bosh

I remember Landrys fans saying that he could be an all star

If you think Budinger is going to be a great player, my question is WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT MONTA ELLIS???

People can´t see that some players in this league have overrated stats, my question is, if Budinger had to play paul pierce??? if AB had to play derron williams??? If landry had to play amare??? etc etc

You say that you prefer having the worst salary in Maggete and give up ARIZA7BATTIER, but you don´t understand that ariza/battier are/were more important then Budinger will ever be, because they played defence

I like Budinger, but don´t mention his name in the same phrase as LBJ or Kobe, you just embarrass yourself

I will make a risky affirmation, but for me Wesley Johnson, Paul George, Luke Babbitt, all of these 3 guys will be better then Budinger, and this opinion I have is based on his gameplay when Lowry was injured, his production is highly inflated on fast-breaks and transition basketball, thats why if he goes to the GSW, we will probably have his best individual numbers he will ever have, he reminds me of Anthony Morrow, with a better handling and athleticism but worst shooting

Unfortunately that's the view you have to take until there's more info. It's not personal, but unless it someone established on the board saying, "I personally saw this" or can be it corroborated in general, you have to be careful. It's how credibility is earned or lost here.

If there were serious discussions, you would think Stein would write about it on ESPN's website... but he might have been on NBA TV and just casually talked about possibilities/rumors. Who knows... more info would be nice.

you can´t trade an expiring, salaries have to match, and i don´t whant an huge never ending contract, I prefer having cap flex + Randolph+ 6th pick, then no flex for years+cbud+14th pick

Some just get too connected w/ (a) particular player(s). It's the name on the front of the jersey, not the back.

And I dont think it was Stein who said this. Had to be a guy on/who works for NBATV, not ESPN. Could be false info altogether, could be the simple mistake of getting names/networks mixed up.

Would you do the trade if it was Von Wafer?

The salaries don't match. Will Taylor be apart of the deal?

    I like this break down:

    #14 pick + 2012 pick (#6 at best) FOR #6
    Budinger FOR Randolph

The picks swap is pretty even. So it comes down to Budinger vs Randolph.

Randolph clearly has more upside. Budinger has a better mindset.

You know what you will get with Chase. He will get better for sure. He will probably be a future starter. But he won't be anything more than a roll player.

Randolph has the potential to be a star player. But he can also be a waste having problematic attitude. But at the end of the day, you take the risk and hope we have a better environment for the kid to grow.

BTW, I would rather give up Hill than Budinger IF we are to get Randolph. There will be a logjam of PFs. Randolph can replace Hill. He can't replace Chase... unless, of course, if Hill is a chip for the Bosh deal.

Of course, the lack of comprehension on this board is amazing, people take tiny things and blow them out of proportion.

I liked Wafer, and thought he would have been a nice addition for the right price.....a guy that could come in at the end of the rotation and spot start occassionally.

Still like him in that type of a role.

But Cbud is better than Von in every way....and is only 22, much smarter, and more coachable.

Cbud's movement off the ball is SOOOO important, we have not had that in YEARS....

Watch Ray Allen to see what Cbud's upside is....or could be...
