I'm not really sure what to make of this -- I hardly consider Budinger to be a "throw in" player.

And we can't even talk to Chris Bosh until after the draft, so it doesn't make much sense to me why we wouldn't do a deal because of that. In all likelihood, Morey is just playing his cards -- he doesn't strike me as the type to do a deal as soon as it's offered. He's more of a 'let it come down to the wire so we can get the best deal' type.

Calm down folks, it´s a "rumor", and we all know they are true every time

DM will try not to give Budinger, but if GSW says, "or Budinger or nothing" I am sorry, but it´s a deal, Randolph is a very very small risk project, for me he has enough talent to play starter right now in the Rockets, and if your are concern about the Bosh trade, as long as we keep jeffries battier and hill and a NYK pick/swap, we are good to go, the problem is what Bosh wants, and that we can´t do nothing about

Randolph is a very interesting prospect. Yes his 'head/mindset' can be an issue. But on talent the guy is amazingly talented for his size. He really is a tall ball handling SF....much like Odom.

So, if the Rockets wanted to match up with the Lakers troika of Bynum/Gasol/Odom lineup, getting a Randolph and a Bosh to team with Yao on the front line would be very interesting!

Perhaps Morey won't make the trade unless Cousins is on the board.

CB will always have suitors (Nelson, Riley, Bird, Colangelo, Gentry, Utah, Paxson, that guy in Milwaukee, Orlando). Was Stein just speculating on CB?

I'd rather take the chance on Whiteside anyday of the week over Randolph, but who knows, maybe Randolph and Whiteside are the players needed to make the Bosh deal go down for Morey.

You could say that but what about Kevin Martin.
Very injury prone player. Sometimes you have to pull a trigger to get talent.
Dorsey is nowhere near a two-way player mentioned in another thread.
We know now that Morey is very aggressive inquiring about talent and also eager to pull the trigger if necessary.

I havent seen Randolph play much, but I think he tore up summer league last year correct?

Does this guy have more potential than Carl Landry?

He had some difficulties with the coaches as well but my point whether injury or headcase it's the talent level that counts.

Agree as well. Golden State picking up CBud, Knicks 2012 pick and swapping #6 for #14 of which they should be able to pick up another big to replace Randolf, looks like a good deal for them. Alot would depend on what Bosh wants to do, if Morey does this type of trade. The rockets picking up a 20yr. Randolf and the #6 pick really opens them up to possibly moving into the top 3 or 4 of this draft with another trade, or possibly Morey waiting to see who falls to #6 then pulling the trigger based on player. Only problem with waiting is it opens the door for Pritchard and Cuban to come in and steal away (ie.bidding war) your proposed setup trade with Golden State.

Randolph, 6th pick, Hill... none of us know where any of those guys will be in 3-5 years but the potential is franchise-changing. Like when Dallas added Aikman, Irving, and Smith. Totally not the direction I feel like heading (I want Bosh, I want to do this NOW), but man it could be huge.

I think Randolph is being given a little too much credit here. Granted, I've seen the potential that everyone else has. But in addition to the "headcase" issues already brought up, I don't like the fact that he is a career 45% shooter out of the power forward position. He does NOT have SF skill-set. Meaning, he really can't pull up and hit midrange jumpers that much more consistently than any number of other PF's in the league. Plus, he was injured last year. 20 years old is great, except when they are already potentially injury prone.

But I'd agree he has loads of talent, and would be a very nice addition.

    If one potentiality is

#6, Randolph for #14, 2012 Knicks Pick, Chase

then as noted, you are effectively trading a #6 or worse pick in 2012 for the guaranteed #6 pick this year, by giving up a #14 pick.

then you're trading Chase for Randolph

Honestly, that seems pretty fair to me

This would really be my one concern. I think you are right in that on the contrary this should be a fairly strong draft. Moreover, I trust Morey could find a gem at #14 almost as easily he could at #6. I mean the #6 pick is the #6 pick, not a top 3. Wasn't Shane Battier a 6 pick?

Point being, if you aren't making the deal to get a higher pick that is for some reason attractive to the Raptors in a sign and trade for Bosh - which you might be doing, though I tend to agree with Clutch in that the Rockets already have enough assets for that, it's just up to Bosh - then "maybe" the price is a smidge to high from the draft pick perspective if you believe that given Morey's track record thus far in the draft, he could still find solid talent at #14 this year, and giving up a draft pick (Rockets effectively trading two potential lotto picks for one in return) might be too high a price even though you are deriving more value in the present and giving up future potential value.

Maybe Morey can negotiate to add the option allowing the Rockets to swap their own 2012 first round pick with the Warriors, or at least get the Warriors #34 pick this year and a future second, something like that...

I like this Randolph-Landry comparasion, both are 3-4 players. I think Randolph has more potential. His defense is better than Landry.
