Possibly, but (and I may be totally wrong) my feeling is that the only hurdle in getting Chris Bosh is Chris Bosh. Having the pieces to make a deal with Toronto work is quite possible if not already definite, but that Bosh is going to exercise his free agency to the fullest and make his choice (which is why it's important to let Bosh know about Houston).

Randolph + 6 for Cbud+14+2012 first rounder is something I would do. I love Budinger, but if I remember correctly Randolph is a SF/PF type so he would take Buds minutes. The only thing that would worry me is that we then have a gap at backup 2 (because Bud and Taylor are the closest things we have to it. I know Brooks can play there some but....

However, if he works his ass off, I can see Jermaine Taylor working out there.

I think the Rockets hope that Cousins or Favors fall. Greg Monroe @ # 6 would seem to be offset a bit by Randolph.

I think it's more about collecting assets to trade to Toronto for Chris Bosh. Otherwise, when you add in Jordan Hill there'd be too many young power forwards and not enough playing time.

I'd do this trade in a nanosecond, even if we do have to give up Budinger(Randolph kind of make up for it anyway). The 6th pick may be just outside the Cousins/Favors/Wall/Turner/Johnson range. But you can get a much more solid player than at 14. Plus one of the above 5 could drop.

I don't see how this affect Bosh. If Bosh wants to come, we give them whatever we get with the 6th pick unless he's really special. In which case, we can always throw in future picks or perhaps Brooks/Llul.

Anthony Randolph is a 'two-way' player. Plus, the rockets can draft a 'two-way' player using the #6 pick. It's a good way to complete the rockets' roster.

He's not proven, but 20 year olds still growing into their frames who put up 11.5-6.5 with over 1.5 blocks in under 23 minutes do not grow on trees.

2012 is a long way away, and the Knicks could very well be a playoff team in 2 years. If the cost is Budinger to land an uber talent like Randolph plus a guy we see as a top 3 or 4 talent at #6, that'd be hard to turn down.

I agree. If anything the potential pick being discussed would be more about improving us in the eyes of Bosh.

Toronto would just have to be happy with Hill and our 2011 first rounder switch from NY.

I dont see Morey trading Ariza. Guys like Buddinger are replaceable! OMG DD was gunghoe about Von Wafer, then he saw Buddinger play and now he doesnt want to let go of Buddinger. Buddinger will never start on the Rockets because he cant play a lick of defense. He is a great player off the bench just like Von Wafer nothing more.

His stock is sky high right now so might as well sell now IF we are going to deal him.

But I would like to keep Buddinger because he is an exciting player, but I do understand he is replaceable. I would rather give them and expiring contract like Jeffries or Battier instead. And please get rid of Aussie.

Totally agree about your point about Randolph. The man was a monster in Summer League and at the start of the season. Then after he got injured and fell into Nelly's doghouse, which probably was because he had a bad attitude, his production fell to the wayside. Great players are not only talented, which Randolph has all the talent you would want in the world, but also resilient and own a strong mental fortitude. Even though he's still young, Randolph has yet to prove at this point that he is both resilient and mentally strong enough to handle adversity. Great organizations like the Spurs are great because they acquire players who are not headcases, emotionally unstable, high IQ hardworking players. I see the Rockets following that mold by acquiring high quality guys like Brooks, Budinger, Hayes, Battier, Scola and getting rid of the cancerous and controversial types like McGrady and Artest.

Randolph is definitely a HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD type player. But, can we really say that the Rockets at this juncture of teetering between a championship contending team or a "good enough to maybe get into the 2nd round" team will be willing to take a chance on such a high risk player if it means giving up a sure thing like C-Bud?

Bosh is the complete player and not a PROSPECT. A super star though second tier who fills a need.
If we want to win now we make Bosh our no. 1 priority. Others are back-up plans anyway.
Crystal clear to me.

I would really really hate to give up Chase but one of these great young pieces are gona have to go

I love this trade though where this could be a situation where we get a great young prospect in Randolph and a good big via draft, maybe Monroe or Aldrich.. Morey wanting to wait it out for Bosh has got me to semi-question his judgement slightly here BUT I jus gota trust the phenom is doing the right thing

You have to look at the big picture. Guys like Randolph and a draft pick will take time to develop, 2 seasons or more. Bosh is an impact NOW guy.

The BIG picture..

Yao's time is running out, Scola is 30, Brooks is about to start hitting his prime, Martin is in his prime, Ariza is about to be in his prime. Battier has 2-3 good years left.

We need to win NOW because this is our best chance at winning a championship. Bosh would solidify that statement.

u dont kno his character, only his basketball character.. he isnt the first person to have a problem with Donnie Walsh, lots of players have a problem with his crazy antics, Baron Davis for one.. so to say someone isnt a decent person based off basketball related issues isnt fair at all.. Randolph would flourish IMO if brought to a professional organization as the Rockets as to oppose to the black hole that is Oakland, just ask any Raiders player

I agree with this. The team has the assets to please the Raptors in a sign and trade along with the pieces to play with Bosh at a championship caliber level. It will be up to him to decide if this place is for him.

And if he goes to that summit, I lose hope that he actually wants to be the man and the centerpiece of a franchise. Instead, he just wants to be Robin for LeBron or Wade.
