i like the combo of hill, randolph, and scola A LOT! scola is a great veteran influence for that young duo. all 3 offer something different and hill and randolph have amazing athleticism and size. i like c-bud and i hope we don't have to give him up, but i think if we were to a #6 pick then he can be replaced.

1st, I think Morey does his best to talk GS in to taking Taylor or maybe even Andersen instead of CBud. Both those players would have some value to the GS style of play...perhaps we send both and take back some crap along with Randolph.

2nd, I don't think we want to stockpile PFs, so Morey probably wouldn't do this unless there was a SG/SF on the board at 6 that we couldn't get at 14. Why trade CBud fro Randolph when you're goign to have Yao, Hayes, Scola, Hill, Anderesen, a pick, Jeffiries or Battier in a pinch already? I'd think this puts us as a trading disadvantage overall. No, you either know you're getting value you can use at 6, or you're rather confident you're going to have to give up Hill or Scola to get a Bosh.

As well, this may be contingent on the right guy showing up for the warriors at #14.

Honestly though, I don't think GS will be able to move Randolph too easily, Morey doesn't need to do this deal, so I'm guessing if it happens, we do keeping CBud.

I apologize if you lacked comprehension of my sarcasm here. You listed 3 items that make a 'jackpot' player, but you forgot the most important--killer instinct. Until Chase shows he has that, I will not value him as high as you do. Scola has it; AB has it... Chase does not--definitely can develop, but does not currently possess it.

My point is this: Chase is not as great as you think he is. Yes, he's above average.. but certainly not off limits if you can get a top 6 talent and anthony randolph.

You must understand the love and conviction of DD in order to understand my comparison of Bud to Wafer.. On the court, there is no comparison.

I can't believe people are insinuating that a guy who:

    a) just finished his rookie year
    b) just started playing a new role on a new team in a new league
    c) is only 22
    d) clearly understands the game (high BB IQ, though i hate using the phrase)
    e) made pretty big strides during said rookie year
    f) by all accounts, works hard and tries to improve himself

has somehow peaked already. Budinger didn't work it out in Arizona, yes.. but given all we've seen in the last year, I could easily chalk that up to immaturity (thinking he was better than he was and then getting humbled, being you and stupid, not understanding hard work as a kid, etc.). Or even going through different coaches and systems, maybe just not fitting in there as well as he does here, whatever..

But in the end...I don't know how you can take everything you've seen and assume that Chase isn't gonna get any better.

(For the record, I'd probably pull the trigger on the deal even if Morey couldn't force Chase out of it somehow.. but I think saying it's ok because Chase has peaked isn't right)

I think Budinger could eventually be a championship-caliber 6th man

Wasn't it reported just a few months back that Randolph wants a $60M/5yr contract extension

    Do not want.

If this is true, this trade would suck. They want to much for Randolph. The 14th and and Bud would be fine, but I'd rather they give the 14th and David Andersen with Taylor. If DM doesn't land Bosh those New York picks would really help out the team in the future.

    Yao / Randolph / Andersen
    Scola / Hill / Hayes
    Ariza / Battier / Jeffries
    Martin / Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Still have the #6 to package for Turner or Bosh.

I take it that no one else has seen the "proposed trade", and it's just offseason fever?

The rox can offer hakeem and it doesnt mean he's coming here. I like randolph alot, but whats the point really if you already has hill who has upside also? Getting up to 3 is curious if they want cousins, but his weight issues scare me. I guess we will see.

I think you have taken one too many sips of DaDaKoolaid™. I’m not so sure it would be all that much fun, it would likely be just another “hey look at me” moment for you.

Have you sent in your tape to the Rockets to see if they are interested in airing any of it? It’s pretty obvious that you fancy a career in TV, maybe they can help you get started…

As a follower of Arizona basketball, I find it hard to believe that it was immaturity, or the change in coaches and systems that led to his lack of progression as a player. But, It is certainly possible, and I hope that it's true.

Chase has superb athleticism, and superb court awareness.

He also had this at Arizona, where he was a man among boys.

He has never, ever had a killer instinct, nor a go-to scorer type of mentality that someone like Ray Allen has. Ray Allen was pounded into the ground by his parents to have that type of killer mentality. He was brought up that way. Chase on the other hand, was a volleyball player first, basketball player second. You be the judge. There is no doubt that he will be a fine player in this league though.

Let's cut to the chase. It really depends on who's available with the 6th pick. Without knowing who's left on the board, it's impossible to know whether this is a good pick.
