Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Cousins is in the top 4-7 for a reason. He's actually one of the better big men to come into the draft over the last 3 seasons. He does have some knuckle-head qualities, but he is very above average player skill wise and has the all-too important size. If we are able to get Randolph without given up Hill and/or Budinger, while also drafting Cousins or Wesley Johnson (or even Xavier Henry). This team is set for
2010-11. Maybe sign someone for MLE and that's it.

The one player I would not mind to see leave is Ariza, he's an above average defender and a decent outside shooter, but we can find other players like that in the offseason or even in the middle of next season. He'd also be perfect for Golden State, because they need fairly good defender at SF.

Then again, if they have to Budinger, I guess it might still be done deal, but Chase still has some potential.

I can understand why Golden State covets Bud -- he's could play the central role in "The Return of Chris Mullen." With our #14 they could replace Randolph with one of Whiteside, Patterson, et al.

Meanwhile, we wind up with some combination of Bosh, Hill, Randolph and Scola -- all similar 6-9 or 6-10 (with shoes) players when we really need a quality backup center who could easily move intto the starting role. Bosh is soft, Randolph is a headcase and the two remaining solid players already belong to the Rockets. BTW, the Lakers troika of Gasol, Bynum and Odom still towers over all four of our respective PFs.

Now, even if we didn't have to give up the newly-acquired #6 for Bosh, we would have a very slim chance at Cousins, who is another headcase anyway. We might get a shot at Wesley Johnson, who is nothing more than the black version of Chase Budinger -- with the same limitations (slow lateral movement and lack of footspeed). We might take Monroe or Aminu, but Monroe is only 6-9 (without shoes) and Aminu is a quick but very short PF or a SF without a shot. (How many PFs can we play at the same time?)

I'm no expert but we have to choose carefully. Bud is as good as Johnson but without the huge paycheck. Hill may be -- may be -- a lesser talent than Randolph but he won't be crying for $10M in the near future and he won't give Adelman Von Wafer-like distractions.

I hope Morey can give the team balance -- two quality players at every position so that Adelman has the capability to match up or create mismatches as needed.

I don't know if this has been commented on yet, and I don't want to wade through the other posts, but . . .

The 2012 Knicks pick will NEVER be better than #6 overall. It is top-5 protected in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015; and if the pick isn't delivered by 2015, then the Rockets only come away with the Knicks' own 2015 second rounder and the Knicks' own 2016 second rounder.

Getting the #6 pick THIS YEAR in exchange for that 2012 Knicks pick would be a freakin' windfall!

I LOVE CBUD. He is a very nice player. Great steal of a draft pick!

In the second round too, wow!

This would make sense if Bud was a top 3 player on the team, or even a starter for that matter. By your own description, shouldn't other teams' covet his marketability as well, leading us to get more in return than he is really worth (which ultimately ends up being the case in every Morey trade)? If we get greater value in return, Bud is gone. We won't be seeing his face on billboards around town anytime soon, that's for sure.

You take this trade in a heartbeat. Budinger/#14/2012 Knicks pick for Randolph/#6. I would hesitate a little more on trading Hill instead of Budinger, but probably still do it. We'd still be loaded with assets to trade for a star, too.

The same genius that said Rasheed Wallace was a better MLE player than Trevor Ariza is now all over this Budinger is in the same vein as Ray Allen. nonsense. This just gets more ridiculous every day.

so the rox sell tickets because c-bud is white....lol i love it. brent barry really got all those white fans out in droves. sura really amped up the white fan base by throwing out the shocker when he made a shot.

maybe you and DD should quantify how much revenue c-bud generates since you state it makes him almost untradeable. sorry, but houston wants a winner, not the houston jazz. also, if you look at the responses in this thread then i think you'll see that people are in favor of this trade. there isn't a huge uproar against trading c-bud because he is a player "like me" lol.

also, nero and DD i'm curious...what is the fastest growing ethnicity in houston? are "they" clamoring to get eduardo najera here? and where do the rockets get a huge foreign fan base from? i'm not too sure. maybe you can inform me but i do know the answers are not the aryan nation and the 3rd reich.

I think he was averaging double digits in several games too at the beginning of the season. As some people have mentioned, he didn't improve during his 3 years at college. He was nba ready when he came to the league last year, and I didn't see him to improve significantly during his rookie year. He is very unlikely to have significant improvement in future. Now, there is a team that is high on him. The rockets should sell high.

I do hope we keep Lowry/Bud/JHill together because that has the potential to just wreck other team's reserves.

That said, Anthony Randolph has shown legit superstar potential at times. I remember him going on a streak of like 10 games where he was putting up 25 and 15. With 3 steals and 3 blocks to go with it. VERY tempting...

Thing is, I would be tempted to trade Bud and the 14th for the 6th pick alone, because I think this is a DEEP draft, so throwing in Randolph is just gravy imo...

Race does not, and should not, ever matter in basketball.

greg monroe would fit so well in this offense. plus hes not half bad on defense. and the height alongside yao would be very intimidating.

I think someone posted this same video...I could be wrong..

this post is getting a lot of love

The OP was questioned about where he got the information from and still no response...so this is basically all speculation. I don't doubt that the Rockets could be trying to deal with not only the Warriors, but other teams below us also...

I agree with very few of you (surpisingly)... unless Bud is in a deal for a star, I'm skeptical about it...cause of the business side of it, and his abilities..

Even if he never will become a starter as most of you are stating, we all KNOW that he's atleast a great role player, and could be a great 6th man..
We all know this from witnessing just his rookie year!

Although I do trust Morey, and if he does end up trading him, I have to believe it's for the good of the team.

If we keep the 6th pick I would place $ on Morey selecting Monroe. The best passing big man in the NCAA and it just wasn't close. He can put the ball on the floor and run...please please please get this man in Houston.
