RocketsPimp, I knew that thank you very much...so I didn't mention it because I thought it was a given or obvious. I mean...aren't us bball fans clear on what the standings are? Also, I singled out Portland and Miami...what was meant to be exceptions from the other losers of the league. You go on to say, "...but I can't stand it when some of you guys try and discredit(that is what you are doing even if you didn't mean to) the Rockets for going out and earning a few wins and then lose a game". Who said anything about discredit? I was simply stating that we are not as good as I originally thought...no more...no less...and I will take more convincing as to how good I know we really can be(specifically, against better teams). But, even if I was out to discredit them, this is a public forum and nobody likes everything all the people post all the time...so. They make millions of dollars for playing a game..they can take some discredit(if I were dishing it which I'm not). Mulder, exactly. Have a good day....GO ROCKETS(or I'll disrespect you...hehe)! Surfguy
Well, even though the T'Wolves were the hottest team going into this game, I think it was pretty clear that they weren't really playing like it. An average performance from ANY NBA team would have produced a win against the Wolves on this particular night. I think the fact is that they just didn't get it done. So, I guess what I'm saying is that this was a bad game for us, and maybe a reality check for Minnesota, but since the score was in their favor when the clock ran out, they get the win... Just my two cents... ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
The game was big IMO because a win would give a sliver of daylight concerning possible playoff HOPES. At this point, I think we're playing for next year, team cohesion, and healing, (boy do we need that), for big pieces next year. Cato and Carlos. Minnesota definately impressed me as a team working together, but we can beat 'em. I haven't been as impressed with K.G. in the past like this game. He looks like a terminator player. A real nasty first round opponent. I don't see Phoenix falling out enough for us to catch them either. ANd this of course assumes that we run off another LONG win streak. Not realistic. If we win 2/3 I'm happy, but that won't get us there this year. We need to start the year with those numbers.
KG was indeed impressive...a very disruptive defensive presence. The guy can cover ground quickly. Not only did he successfully double francis early, but he doubled Hakeem as well late in the game. I'm close to calling him my #1 player in the league. If we expect to ever beat Minn, we must get KG over to the weak-side of Francis, where he can provide no help.
While I agree in whole or in part with Almu, BK (Dostoevsky?), DarkHorse, and RocketsPimp .... some of you mus be watching a far different team than who I have been watching lately. The main point is this team has progressed to playing well above themselves and losing to playing within themselves and winning. It has always galled me to read a good performance by my beloved Rockets (or any team for that matter) be characterized in the media as an "off-night" for the opponent that we beat. It is as if only one team played the game and kinda decided to let us beat them. This Rocket team played poorly the other night, but we did some new things that both surprised the Pups and made them work a lot harder than they have been working lately. If these Portland Blazers, Miami Heat and TimberPoopers were the cream (or almost cream) of the league and we beat them or "almost" beat them, then I say we are a lot more focused and talented then some are portraying here. The absolutely biggest jump in experience this young and firey team have had for some time is this: They have learned to win. even close games. Cheers.
