I would have thought based on our roster it would be Shane Battier? The sad thing is the best backup PG on the market right now is.......Tracy Mcgrady
Are you serious? The Clippers and Bulls worked him out and still didn't want to sign him. Not even to a vet min or non-guaranteed. It's obvious he has not recovered from his knee surgery. He crashed and burned in NY, after saying he was 'ready' to play but Rick just didn't want to play him. He is NOT the best backup anything available right now. I'm not hating on him, just pointing out the facts of his situation. He needs to get back in the gym with Grover and 'REALLY' get back to playing form. A 70% healthy T- Mac can be a good backup. This 40% t-mac is no good to anyone.
Brooks, Buddinger, Battier, and Ariza....will share it. JT will probably be in the Rio Grande Valley barring injuries. And guys, Shawn Bradley can not play SG...SHEESH ! DD
I think that we have enough quality wing players to hold the fort while Kevin Martin gets his rest even though we may not have one sure fire backup SG. It'll probably be some combination of JT, Cbudd, and Battier.
My guess would be that Taylor will be the backup, unless he shows in games and practice that it's a bad idea. As has been said, Adelman is supposed to be high on him. During summer league, Chase looked better handling the ball than I recall from last season, so expect him to get some minutes, depending on the matchup. Battier might get a few if it's thought he's needed on the court for defense and spacing with his corner threes. Ariza? Let's please leave him at the 3, OK? At least on the offensive end.
it depends on opponent SGs. if rox needs a stop at this position, JT is one, like we did against lakers. otherwise, CB may get a call. we should remember rox puts itself in the position to make some deals during the season. right now, log jam in some positions can't be avoided until late of the season.
what about xavier henry? he still hasnt signed his contract would come cheap but we would have to give something up. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/hoops-in-view/2010/07/arn-tellem-xavier-henry-chicago-bulls.html
Rookie?? Im pretty sure it says "member" under my name!! I also see that i have around 100 more posts than u! Im not a rookie!!!
Brooks can easily slide over to SG when needed. Just depends on the offensive sets, but as DD mentioned, we're not short on SG-type players. It's covered pretty well. We don't need a scrub to come in for scrap minutes.
Chase is going to get the nod over JT until he slumps. He has the skill set that Adelman loves from that position. CB gives you: 1. Ability to run off of screens for mid ranged jumpers. 2. Sweet 3 point shot. 3. Strong passing ability. 4. 1 full year of NBA experience. JT gives you: 1. Scoring on ISOs. 2. Explosive drives to the hole. JT hasn't shown his ability to pass (both in regular season games, NBDL games and summer league games) enough to crack the rotation just yet. He needs to work on this "black hole" tendency and score in the flow of the offense. I LOVE his upside though. He has a strong work ethic and a great attitude. Both are extremely athletic. Both have questionable defense.
