Somehow I smell M Jackson. Just look, first JVG, then Patrick H, then Spoon... Not that M Jackson is a bad choice or something...
Look East, look to the Houston Knix as CWard will be cut and signed here (that may have been a tacit part of the deal???).
Wilkes can't cut it as a PG even though he will work hard. I would like to see if we can get Mark Jackson now or use the trade exception to get a better and younger player.
If Wilks was good enough to play, he would be playing already. Mooch was getting less and less minutes. We need a back up pg. Could Mobley or Jim Jackson fill in?
I agree Jeff. I know Mark Jackson is available but you can just sign him outright. Perhaps the Rockets feel Francis is playing TOO many minutes and want to get a solid PG to bring in to relieve him. OR perhaps they see that Francis needs some quality time at the 2 (which I agree with) and want to get a solid PG to pair with him. The Rockets traded small for big in the Spoon deal. Seems like he could be someone to be packaged in ANOTHER trade OR be someone to take the place of someone that we might lose (Taylor or Cato) in a possible trade!
Weatherspoon can't take either Cato's or Taylor's place. That would make us even slower and worse than we are right now in the frontcourt.
Yes I know he is w/ the Griz but I thought he tried out w/ the Rockets. Didn't he come recommended by Kermit Washington or Scotty Brooks?
Wilkes is gonna need help and mark j. is way to old to play IMO. In no particular order: Kyle Hill.. don't we still own his rights??? Jamison Brewer Omar Cook Roger Mason -- I've always liked him, Toronto was looking to cut him last time I checked
Whatever happened to Dana Barros? He was a pretty good backup. BTW, didn't he drop 50 on the Rox in a game? Cod
He too just got traded, so doesnt that 2 month thing apply. Other than that him and cook I would love to add
Watson played with the Grizz last year as well. He played his rookie year with Seattle, then West signed him.
Because Weatherspoon was the only player the Rockets received, he is eligible to be traded immediately[u/]. Although highly unlikely, Weatherspoon could be combined with the TE for any player up $12.4m. The most likely possibility IMO is combining Spoon with a current Rocket for a mid-tier player ($7m-$8m) and a bad contract. If for some weird reason Spoon decides to retire, his contract would be like gold to a team seeking cap relief (like the Hawks taking Tyrell Brandon's $11m in the Sprewell trade). If Spoon sticks out the season, he'll be left unprotected in the Charlotte expansion draft. Spoon and the TE during the expansion draft has some intriguing possibilites. Just my 2 cents, but I really think Wilks can run the 2nd unit. His sense of pushing tempo is very good.
I AGREE. The Bulls did the same thing w/ the big trade w/ Chicago. Rick Brunson became a Bull a week later.
