    Hello everyone, newbie right here.

What do you guys think of trading luther and chuck for steven hunter? Since we have a glut of PFs, especially undersized ones.

The salaries don't match. In theory it doesn't look like a bad idea, because of Hunter's height and length but he has gone down a lot since his strong performance against Duncan when he was on the Suns. He also has had arthroscopic knee surgery and played only 19 games for Denver in the outgoing season. I would pass up on it for these reasons even if the salaries were to match.

After reading and thinking about our issue of backup C, I've come to a few conclusions of my own.

Yao should limit his minutes in the coming regular season, at least before the trade deadline, especially against weak teams. With our awesome team next year we shouldn't be relying on Yao to carry too much of the team's scoring load, and therefore we should be winning the game anyways whether Yao plays 35 mins or 25 mins. This leaves playing time for the backup Cs.

I have read on a NJ Newspaper blog that the Nets have a major problem in regards to Vince Carter's backup. They've been looking for that backup and have only Douglas Roberts and Keyon Dooling to show for their results. A rookie like CDR can't be relied on and Dooling has to backup the PG spot also. This means Luther can be a great fit for the Nets!!!

I also read clearly that with their glut of big men (Yi, Williams, Lopez, Stro, Boone) they are willing to part with some of those big men. They are apparently willing to trade Boone more than the other PF/C's (obv Stro is an exp contract) as their trade asset. We can cash in on this opportunity!!!

So therefore I reckon this trade is viable:

Luther Head + Memphis 2nd rounder + Patrick Ewing Jr + Cash

(or just Luther and Brooks if we're really keen)

    for

    Josh Boone

Thats a good option I think. Other than that signing Nick Fazekas or James Augustine would be great also. They are legit NBA talents!

Boone is a great rebounder, and has over 8 ppg on more than 50 percent shooting. I'd even move Aaron Brooks if it meant we could get Boone.

I love Dorsey, but his inexperience means he can't be trusted. Mutombo will also be vital in this department also but he can't handle it all.

This is a great idea. I love how he owns Harpring in that video and that block where he just grabs the ball out of the air from Biedrins is sick! I know even Stromile Swift can look like an All time great in a highlight video but Sean Williams is what we're looking for AND more. Size, athleticism, protect rim, rebound, block shots, finish strong around hoop, fill 15-20 min void while Yao rests. Perfect backup center. I wonder if the Nets are willing to give him up and if so how steep their asking price is.

    Great thread .

But it is not easy. Now a good C is very difficult to get.

Because the big guys are too few in the league.

so They won't easy to be trade of every club.

    Unless they had enough profit.

en.. Novak is a player of the other team(Clippers)yet.

With a few Bench players and Rookies to exchange a 7" man who can block,

rebounds, and a few bit of scores ?????????? Do you .if you are boss ?????

Steve Novak is no longer a part of the Rockets organization.

Certainly the Nets aren't giving him up. He was one of the few bright spots of that team last year. Even if they were giving him up they would be asking for nothing less than Shane Battier, and we would have to take back Stromile Swift and probably send Hayes to make the salaries match.

Ditto, when he blocked MHarpring I just started smiling. which also makes me hope that RArtest wont back down from MHarpring either just because he is a Rocket now.

If Mbenga re-signs with the Lakers, they will have four 7-footers and six guys 6'10 or bigger:

    Bynum
    Gasol
    Mihm
    Mbenga
    Odom
    Radmanovic

Until Mutombo signs, the Rockets have only one guy 6'10 or bigger:

    Yao

The fact is that the Rockets still have a small frontcourt despite having a gigantic center and a vastly improved collection of PFs compared to a few years ago. Even if Deke signs, he is merely an aging backup center. We can't play him at PF alongside Yao. Meanwhile, the Lakers can play with a number of different big and dangerous PF/C combinations.

Our size disadvantage will be especially noticeable when we go up against duos like the following:

    Gasol/Bynum
    Amare/Shaq
    Camby/Kaman

I'm not saying we can't overcome this deficiency. I just think that it's clearly our biggest weakness at this point and addressing this weakness should be our number one priority.

Theo would have been a good choice before going to philly. Elson would have been cool too. Now we're left with some guys that can and can't play. I would bring in Kandi and Magloire to see what they have left. When Kandi was at his best, he was a decent shot blocker/rebounder/ low block scorer. Magloire was the same also. The Rox don't need either to be the man, thy just need someone to take 15-18 mins from Yao who can still protect the rim, rebound, and score a little. The rox really get small when Yao or Deke goes out. Another option would be pj brown mid season going towards the run to the playoffs. Magloire and Kandi for vet minimum would be cool though.
