I agree. We have plenty of options in the front court... Yao/ Scola/ Artest Scola/ Artest/ Battier Mutumbo/ Landry (hopeuflly)/ Tmac Honestly i think the only thing we need to worry about right now is resigning Landry. Rafer is good. Barry can play point. Brooks is another year wiser and should be able to get more PT. I REALLY want to see Tracy play some minutes at point... 1. Tracy 2. Ron 3. Shane 4. Lus 5. Yao That would be AMAZING in the 4th. But yeah... I'm not stressing on our backup center situation.
stick with dorsey, hayes, and hopefully landry backing up yao. it`s 15 minutes, depending on the matchups, they can play with any backup 5`s in the league imo.
I'm sure this has been answered before, but no time to search. What was wrong with Loren Woods? I've heard him called the Tim Duncan of Europe???
No need to sign nobody , I'd rather give the minutes to Hayes or Scola and go with a small lineup , run and gun will be a nice change of pace when Yao sits.
Loren decided to resume his career as Tim Duncan of Europe by returning to... You guessed it: Europe! He got an offer for more than the NBA veteran minimum from an European team and asked for his release. The Rockets obliged.
Yao should play 30-32 minutes per game tops. That leaves only 16 minutes for a backup center. We don't need a big-name, big-contract guy. What we need is someone to come in and bust their tail for 16 minutes. I imagine this could be done by Platoon. Ideally we'll sign Mutombo for the veterans minimum. That gives us 8 minutes a game of finger-wagging action and presence in the paint with a little rebounding. No offense, of course, but we don't need him to score. In fact we don't need him to shoot. The other 8 minutes will hopefully go to Joey Dorsey. The dude is a wrecking ball in the paint. He has a 7 foot wing span and is a beefy rebounding machine. I'd like to see him get some burn his rookie season backing up Yao because he'll bring energy to the floor immediately. Done and Done. Morey is NOT gonna spend significant money on a backup center. We already pay Yao franchise dollars...you can't spend anything on his backups or the cap will be blown up in our face. Check out www.rocketsonly.com for more rockets analysis...
that't a problem i have long been thinking about .Fortunately ,I have cone up with some guys who may makeup out shortage of backup c . 1 ,wilcox ;wilcox is on Oklahoma City(Former supersonics) which has no favour from any guy on team except Mason who is a local people.Wilcox himself is gonna be thinking about going to another team because any team other than the sonics is better . On houston's account, wilcox is a strong roster who can match up with any center even though he is a little bit undersized.Maybe joey dorsey can also do the work wilcox can do,but i really think wilcox is more experienced and ,more importantly ,wilcox can play 4 too.Chuck is a good 4 player but he is too short to defend longer pfs like KG.And it's reasonable that the lakers will be our major rival in the upcoming season, lakers have a long PF who's name is Damn Pau Gasol. It'll be too difficult for scola and Hayes to defend Pau according to Scola's soft and Chuck's short. While ,wilcox can bring troubles to any roster including yao. Milicic: The no2 draft in 03 may have't discovered his potential yet ,but that may also be a risk to offer 6m to a guy who has proved the worst 1rd guy in 03's draft. However, he may be the easiest for us to get because of the friendship between rockets and Mem. Al Harrinton: can't afford his gabage contract Cris Kaman:Kaman is more of a center than a PF,as that the clippers got camby by chance ,Kaman may have to be a bencher. So why not play as a bencher in a better team in houston? The only problem is that we can't get him easily,to get kaman we should have to offer shane or rafer .However , neither rafer nor shane is tradable.will they accept the package:Chuck,Francis,Luther ,brooks ,picks. The hope is slim. it seems that morey will have to sign deke back, even though paying more money.
Adelman is known for having a short bench. I think if we can resign Landry and Deke we are set. Are bigs will be Yao, Scola, Hayes, Landry and Dorsey. I think that rotation will be very productive. We keep Deke at the end of the bench and rest him until the playoffs or if Yao goes down. I don't think this is a glaring need like alot of you. I think that backup center by comitee will work just fine. We keep Deke as an insurance policy and keep him fresh like we did last year. If Yao can stay healthy, we can keep Deke fresh all season and use him for certain matchups in the playoffs.
He is so passed his prime. He wouldn't be able to crack our rotation. He does seem to grab rings like there going out of style, so for that case and the fact that he is a Rocket for life, I wouldn't mind him joining the team for leadership and shooting in certain clutch situations. I doubt he has anything left in the tank, but I would love for him to join our team and prove me worng.
Apprantly the rockets are after the iranian sensation ehdadi. http://english.ohmynews.comArticleView/article_viewasp? Does this mean were parting ways from deke?
"The US National Basketball Association (NBA) lost an historic chance to employ the 2.18-meter-tall Iranian tower Hamed Haddadi for its upcoming season by grouching about the mutual trades between Iran and the US, offering up another example of political intervention in sports. While his agent and representatives of two NBA clubs were set to continue their negotiations on transferring Haddadi from Iran's Saba Battery to either the Memphis Grizzlies or Houston Rockets, the NBA board of directors sent a warning to its 30 clubs to withdraw from discussing the Iranian player's transfer." It's just an opinion piece but I hope Morey can work his magic again...and this guy doesn't turn out to be Vspan 2.0
If u give up battier for wilcox, u have to squeeze wilkens out of them also or u have to make a trade for a backup 2/3. I like the notion and idea, which would give landry his walking papers and give payroll flexibility.
He is tall and very, very talented. this is a guy that was probaly a top 5 center in the whole olympics. he has a very good aray of offensive moves. he is a solid shot blocker also. he's only twenty three. he hasnt even began to reach he's prime.eighteen points, eleven boards three blocks on fourty nine percent shooting while being doubled every game. get him into a professional organisation like ours and work on he's conditioning and game and you got a two headed offensive monsters in asias version of the twin towers.
It's not just an opinion. morey has met him and has been very pleased with him. even the iranian media who aree in china have reported it. the grizz were the front runners, but ehdadi is more inclined to sign with us then memphis. do you blam him. this guy without even being involved in a professional league has averaged eighteen, eleven and three blocks in the olympics. he had twenty one points and seventeen boards against argentina. he had twenty one and fourteen boards on lthuania. he had twenty five points and fourteen boards on croatia. this kid reeks of a successfull career under a right system.
