Hey Falk, remember that big donation that Les made to Deke? There's more money to be had than just what's on the contract.
I don't understand the logic of "we need a backup pg more than a C, so lets package alston with others for Heinrick". We're replacing one starting point with another and still dont have a "backup". We have 3.5 pg's signed, how many C's do we have?
I would do it for Dalembert even though Battier is insurance for Artest and gives us an extra wing defender but not for Petro. Let's face it, without Yao we are are nothing. Edit:Add Quinton Ross for Battier. It won't be the same thing as having Shane around but that's what I would do. I know you brought this up as a hypothetical scenario,Dalembert's job now will be much easier with Brand being with him. No chance of getting him.
Francisco Elson Juwan Howard Walter Herrmann Magloire Doleac Theo Ratliff Foyle Harrison Robert Swift Those are all the big men available.
I admit Deke surprises me but I'm beginning to realize I'm overestimating his importance. We still need him but a replacement is a must.
I agree and I think he did. If we can get him for the minimum then I'm all for it. He's a rebounder and energy type guy right? Can he defend decently?
I think you are right the back up center should be the number one priority. that and getiing rid of Head. I am gonna say Theo Ratliff. good shot blocker, free agent, does not need many minutes, does not need to score. .... btw at the start of the summer in a thread that was asking what should the summer priorities be i had suggested Artest and Ratliff, and i was ripped by a certain memebr who likes to tell people that they know nothing about how to build a team. so i am 50% there ( morey with me). that memebr is on the Artest Bandwagon now, now let it rip about my ratliff suggestion...
I've heard that too,but why do they want to give up on him so soon? Is he back to his old habits and not caring about basketball. He is a project but certainly an interesting one.
New Jersey is pretty heavy in the big man department. You'd think they're committed to Lopez. So at C: Lopez, Boone, Williams at PF: Yi, Najera, Anderson, Swift Obviously Swift is nothing more than an expiring - but they're shopping Williams simply because they're looking for something tasty in return.
Slim pickings but you can't expect more than that. Elson is the best on that list IMO. Theo is injuried a lot. Foyle is not bad, but he plays like a poor man's Diop. Magloire is 30 but it seems like there is nothing left in the tank. Harrison has never been able to harness his talent. No one else interests me on that list.
The suggestion by the OP was well thought. Good stuff. I tend to think that the Rockets need to get a backup point guard before this, but it's a good thought.
I remember that post. I doubt if it was I who ripped you but it's possible I might have disagreed with your comments. I have some reservations about Ron, but it's worth a gamble. How many minutes can Theo get? We do need some scoring from the backup 5 too IMO.
