I mean really, that's how man-to-man defense is played. You are supposed to sag off of your man if he's two passes away. That's fundamental man-to-man basketball. But it is also fundamental to keep an eye on both your man and the ball by using your peripheral vision. You almost want to stare straight ahead and keep and eye on both. The problem with Harden and others is that their close outs are slow and they lose their man because they take their eye off of them. These are such fundamental things that they just don't do.
