Hey gang, just a quick question for you. What do you normally pay per hour for babysitting? Trying to help out my daughter who is wanting to put up some flyers for babysitting, but she doesn't know what is a reasonable rate these days. I am seeing 10-12 per hour on Google, but I don't know what people are actually charging or paying. Thanks much guys
I am currently paying mine $10 an hour w/ open fridge. Since she is an old lady, she doesnt eat that much, so it doesn't matter much to us.
Your daughter? If she's just a young girl trying to earn extra money, in her pre-teens or early teens, i wouldnt expect anyone to pay her over 10 bucks an hour, unless they're really nice. I'd say ask for 9 or 10. For her to get more than that she'd have to be pretty experienced, since these jobs probably top off at about 15, on average.
We pay $15 an hour for someone to take care of our 2 kids (15 months and the other is almost 3). 2 kids at this age is a lot more cumbersome than watching older kids. We also use one of their former teachers from day care or a really smart, professional college grad. I imagine if you're watching older kids and are a younger age, 10-12 an hour seems reasonable.
My friend introduced me to a baby sitter over the weekend that he's been using for 2 yrs. She charges $1 an hour. Or $12 bucks per shift. lol. Now that's what I call a good deal.
It greatly depends on the number of kids, and how much effort goes into the actual "sitting." ADHD = more money.
She's not a freakin stripper or a pedophile. She's my friends grandma. And screw everybody that pays more than a dollar an hour. lol
