I’d rather have Suggs over Mobley. but in the OP’s scenario I don’t think it’d matter because neither guy would be the best player on a championship Caliber team. Would still need to find an actual star.
Thats just not true, he wasn't efficienet and not refined, then again lebron, kd, kobe all shot low 40s or worse their first year. But Lavine had a great touch, shot, a pull up, stop and pop. In ucla it was an open controversey because coach alfred played his son over lavine when lavine was clear cut a better prospect https://www.bruinsnation.com/ucla_b...blasts-hoosier-loser-steve-alford-zach-lavine he just continued to improve each year by getting stronger and more efficient. Hes been over that 20 point hump and now hes crossing into regular all star. hes only 25 adn did what he did at a very efficient level last year and hasnt even hit his prime. Hes still got 5-6 years of experience of getting even smarter and more efficient and skilled and hes gettng the team usa experience this summer. His talent isn't the same because of how laven can get his shot off be it off dribble or catch at a very high level is close to unblockable i agree mostly with green. I love that he excelled and took the gleague eltie, my prediction tis like yours that he'll be more refined and prepared for the nba jump
It is true though. Have you looked at his draft profile? He's always had great shooting touch plus freak athleticism. The questions on him were about about shot selection and ability to create his own shot. "Taking his shooting and explosiveness in the open court out of the picture, LaVine is a very raw offensive player" Hell even his wikipedia page say he was drafted as a guy thought of with "long term potential but not likely to make an immediate impact". Jalen Green is coming into the league as a guy who has already proven he has reliable go to scoring moves off the dribble. I know I've said it before but its not a coincidence at all that Lavine fell to 13 and Green is arguably a no 1 overall pick in most years. Green will reach greater highs than Lavine brother.
Yea a lot of that was bc he didn't get a proper showcase in UCLA. The guy was head over heels more talented than the coaches son and it was laughable not to the nba but even on the ccampus that he played his two sons over high level prospects hwich drove away people who wanted to be in la typically for college. but ytea he grew each year, but he had the tools of athleticism and a great touch so you could see it coming if he had the right mentality and thats the underrated thing about zach lavine, hes got teh right mentality. He workrs hard to improve and refineevery single season he comes back smarter, better, and more skilled and hes only 25. His pop as a pro at some level and trains him and hes got his mind right . Thats why I'm optimistic and higher on lavine than most seeing the results are going on pace you would want for top player. I do agree that Green should be ahead of his curve. I'm with you, believe the gleague elite team should accelerate development, wisdom, andmindsets of top prospects and love that green was the one to take a leap in the first year. That to me makes my rugency for teh top pick/cade much less and I'm happy to stand path with our depth of assets and buld around aroun KPJ and Green. So he may, I'm not sure he has that elite tool of lift on his shot as lavine, but he could very well be better, or better faster...in any case my point is I think lavine is a success and will go down as a success in his career as his prime is just starting and hes figured it out. I expect big things from green though and I'd be very bery happy to have him in red and yellow.
