Does Mobley even have Ayton potential? I thought ayton was a true big/7 footer who holds down the paint and boards and has a chance and a ncie touch to improve his offense where as mobley seems to have all the tools and is more of a wing and can be john issac with a more versatile offensive game? i see some of lavine in green and ideally he may be able to have similar production, 27-5-5 on 50-40-90 after improving every single year with more responsiblities, laveine is now an olympian and all star and only improving. I think Lavine is more athletic and has more lift on his shot as a creator. I see more of beal, buddy hield in green. Green has the benefit of more potential just as the difference between him and the other 3 mentioned above is that he went for his one year of training to play with pros, trained by formner nba players, playing an nba style, and grinding it out for a year in proactice and games iwth people who are single minded about becoming a professional and have already played and succeeded well in college. That may give him an edge, hes the first one doing it with the elite program so we'll see. In any case, I like our pick at no 2 along with a lot of our other assets and unless stone is sure about Cade, its hard to see a pick I wouldn't be excited about
I'll be shocked if Green ends up as good as LaVine, but it's what we all need to hope for given that we'll be stuck with him being the pick no matter what
Forget what they say. You already know the answer to that. The post history for a lot of these people speaks for itself. They care about being right, winning arguments, and pushing their views more than anything else.
I have been team Green since forever but I’d root for Mobley just the same. I would follow Green too tho, just to see if i was right.
I prefer Green and appreciate Mobley, but Ayton isn't the Mobley comp imo. Ayton was 7 ft and 250+ lbs coming out of college. He has a 7'5+ wingspan and was compared to David Robinson and Shawn Kemp as a generational talent. Mobley has Chris Bosh and AD comps as his ceiling and has much less weight and slightly less wingspan than Ayton. Ayton was also a better three point and free throw shooter than Mobley in College. Mobley is a better shot blocker and passer, Ayton is a much better rebounder with less turnovers and mentally stronger as a prospect imo. Ayton was also much more NBA ready.
That’s where I’m at. I change my mind every couple of days. Right now I’m slightly Mobley. I’ll be very happy with either and not lose sight that we could have been debating who to pick at 18.
Lavine is absolute lowest case scenario. He was a raw freak athlete that finally taught himself how to get his shot off off a pivot in rhythm after years of work and development. Jalen Green is entering the league much more polished and will grow much further than Lavine has grown by the time he's 26.
Same here ... definitely not sold on the comparison. I'd compare Mobley between John Collins and Christian Wood ... Ayton is a more traditional center.
I think you should know enough about the regular posters on here to project their future behavior. There are those who have a history of consistently tearing down Rockets players even players who have been historically transcendent.
Since you first posed question to me the other day, this is closest comparison that I'm somewhat comfortable with. Mobley more like Bam/Gobert hybrid while Green is more like Iverson/Lamb. Going back and forth on Bam/Isaac and Bam/Gobert. Mobley is better rim protector than disruptor on perimeter so went with Gobert over Isaac.
